Teachers, educators and parents who can't do the 2010 podcast cruise

Would you be interested in a Universal/RCCL Land / Sea Podcast Cruise?

  • Yes, definately

  • Possibly, if the price is right

  • Probably not, but I could be convinced

  • No way - I'm a "Disney Only" person

I think they are leaning towards July. I think hurricane season is in August???

Hurricane season is more like June-October. The cruise lines do a really good job of sailing people out of the way of a storm. I'd be more worried about a rainout at Universal, but it would still be fun to hang with all the podcast peeps!

Although summer is typically busy for us, I could probably swing a week in the middle....just gotta get a date to start working with.

Patience padawan, patience.

I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the date of Dis-a-palooza and now this trip.

I think I will need to change my pay from direct deposit to my checking to direct deposit to Dreams Unlimited Travel. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Pete, I think you could offer a Podcast Cruise at any time, any where, for any price and DISers would sign up! :goodvibes

Oh, cool about the hurricane season news. Anybody know what they typically offer with these land/sea cruises as far as resort?

I have only been to WDW in December, a very nice time to go, weather-wise.

Please tell me, just how HOT is it in Florida in the summer?

Hot as the surface of the sun hot.

I would say 89-93 degrees is normal. But there is always a breeze when you are on a cruise ship and you can always hang by the pool at the resort.

I am most scared of the weather. I would love to just hang at the HRH pool all day. I love that pool!
There are drinks by the pool :goodvibes :drinking1

I've been saying this all along!
This is the website for the land/sea packages for those of us who can't stop themselves from exploring the possibility :confused3:rolleyes1:thumbsup2

I was looking at this site earlier today but couldn't figure out a date that would allow it to price out. I assumed it would be a 3 day park then 4 day cruise which leaves on a Monday but I checked every Monday in July '10 for every hotel and nothing.

I broached the subject with the husband last night. He said no way. But I know him. It was a "No way, but if you really wanted to do it, I'll consider it, no way." I'll keep working on him. I know my teens would love it!

I had the same problem!! I'm glad it just wasn't me!! :goodvibes

In July?? Normal temp is around 95, sometimes hotter!! However, we have a very high humidity rate, so it feels like 105!!

I checked July 11th and it gave me a price. I am not sure if I trust it though.

I did several Sundays for June and July of this year and got a price per person. Price definitely looks great compared to DCL.

I got it to work earlier and it ended up starting at $1027/person (or something close to that). Not sure if that included port charges and taxes or what hotel it was for.

Teacher here and I know I'm a drop in the bucket in the scheme of things. BUT, a podcast cruise will probably be my FIRST cruise and I'm not sure if I want my first experience to be RCCL. That sounds weird, doesn't it? ;)

It will be my first cruise too, and the way I look at it is that I will have nothing to compare it with. Plus having my first cruise filled with people I enjoy makes it all the more exciting. I also feel good in the fact that Pete and the gang would not book us with something that is not a good product.

Generally speaking, they offer any of the three 'on-site' Universal properties, as well as select off site (I really like the Doubletree Universal - very, very nice hotel and absurdly reasonable price point). Any way you slice it, a land/sea next year with Universal will be less than half a land/sea with Disney. In fact, I'm willing to say that a land/sea with Universal will be less than half of just the cruise portion of a DCL vacation.

I do need to reiterate that the Monarch, while recently refurbished, is an older ship than the Wonder. While we can kvetch about the price of a Disney cruise, there is a reason why it's so expensive - it's a first class ship - so we need to manage our expectations :)

Pete
