Teachers appreciation thread. I just want to thank all the teachers on the Disboards for all the wonderful work they do in their communities. You guys do so much great work and sometimes are not recognized for it. Thanks for being awesome.

I do have to ask though. Are there some days when you feel like this SNL skit?

DS is a high school teacher and coach. Teaches 11th and 12th graders, bless their hearts.

EVERY SINGLE DAY he tells me at least one story that makes me laugh, and terrifies me for the future.

I have no idea how some of them are going to survive in the wild.

My two daughters are teachers. One teaches third grade and the other teaches Special Education. They work in a Title 1 school. They work very hard but often see very low achievement. My daughter who teaches third grade complains daily that her students just will not stop talking and work. And this is a complaint of all the teachers. There is little or no parental involvement and a large percent of the children live in a dysfunctional home. It is very sad.

I've been teaching high school for almost 11 years. It's been a wild ride. Some days I go home and think "I should just go work at Target." Parents and admin support are mostly the problem.

Thank you so much for your appreciation and support. I teach 4th grade and it's been an uphill climb since the end of the Pandemic. Plus my district was recently hacked by Ransom Ware which totally shut down computer usage - back to old style teaching. It's also been rough as many students suffer from a lack of rigor, focus, attendance and lower academic skills/knowledge. But I still like my job and will continue to teach!
