I'm making a 8 x 8 scrapbook for my son's K teacher.
There are 20 kids in his class. I want to give each child their own page plus have a couple extra pages for trips and party etc.

Does anyone have any photos of past projects like this? I know what I want to do but I just want to make sure there's nothing BETTER lol

I've done this same thing 3 times and the teachers loved it!! One suggestion, make sure the child's picture is on the page -- perhaps the principal knows a day when the teacher won't be teaching, you could run to the classroom and take digital photos of each child. Maybe even during art, music, or library time (anytime the teacher will be away from the kids) you could do this. Keep in mind too that not every child will return the finished page without some prodding (unless you're lucky!). I had a title page "Mrs. H's North Stars" (our school name) and the school year "'06-'07". Then, because we're "North Stars", I matted each kid's picture on their favorite color star.

Have fun - start NOW. The end of the school year will be here before you know it.

I have ALL the parents emails, they are sending me photos or bringing in photos of their child. When I receive a photo in class the teacher thinks we are sharing photos from class trips cause the envie will say Tracy "pumpkin pickin" or Tracy "christmas show".
each child will have their photo on the page along with a note they themselves write to or about the teacher. ALso a little section about themselves.

I got some photos already. I'm gonna start this weekend.
I just wanted to make sure there wasn't soemthing else i wanted to add or change.
thanks for the help

I just made a list of what pages I would like to do. Forget 8X8 I think I might have to move up to an 8x11 lol

1st page picture of Mrs teacher with a poem
2nd and 3rd pages class photo and list of kids names
4th to 14th pages each childs photo (I think I might have to put 2 children per page and use their photo to house the hidden journal box)
15th & 16th pages Firehouse
17th & 18th page Pumpkin Pickin'
19th &20th halloween party
21st & 22nd Christmas show
23rd & 24th Christmas Party
25th & 26th Easter Party
27th to 29th just photos of teacher working with the kids

the last page I will try to sneak in the school on library day and take a group photo of the kids holding a banner, each child will hold a letter or a blank (space) page to spell out "Thank you ---. ------" (<---teacher name there lol)

The only event I won't have in the book will be the graduation but oh well.
so what do you think????

I would love to get such a thoughtful and loving gift from a parent. The pages sound great. Make sure the year is listed somewhere in the album, over the years they can blur together somewhat even though I rarely forget a child when I actually see them.

Oh good now I know a teacher will like it. LOL
When I think of teachers I don't think of them as normal. I know it's weird but I always think of them as BETTER and the simple things are not good enough for them. They touch so many lives. Although I have 1 child and he is only in K his teacher has taught him so much and in turn he has taught us.

the year is on the class photo but I think I will add
Thank you Mrs. blank
from your K-1 class of 2007 (or something like that) on the last page after the thanking photo/poem I have planned

thank you so much for replying you have helped my confidence in this project more than you know..

In the albums that I've done for the teachers, I've left a few blank protectors in the back for the "last day of school" pictures that wouldn't be available beforehand. During the summer I finished those pages. Then, the first day of the next school year, I dropped them off to the teacher, all she had to do was slide them in her album.

I'm very envious of your parent participation -- I had a real struggle with a couple of my parents, but I got the job done.

Happy weekend!!

Hi! I'm a first grade teacher.

A couple years ago I had an awesome room mom. She made a scrapbook for me. Each student even had their own page with school photo on it.

The mom had the book laminated (the heavy type of laminating, not thin cheap stuff) & spiral bound at Staples or Office Depot. It was gorgeous!!

She also had made (and paid for herself!!!) a black & white copy of the scrapbook for each student in the class!! About 25 kids! On the last day of school, each student got to take one home.

She also included some pictures of my DD (who was about 8yo & had visited my class once to go on a field trip with us). I thought that was nice.

**Some of the students only wrote their 1st names on their pages. I recommend having them include their last names too. It's only been about 4 years, but already....I remember almost NONE of their last names. (Hey, I've been teaching a loooooooong time :goodvibes )!

on the pages themselves its just gonna be the first names but on the page with the class photo I'm putting first and last (sort of like roll call lol). I was gonna do the yearbook for each child but I'm addicted to swaps so I'm sort of BROKE lol
thanks again. (I'm glad another teacher likes this idea. with each reply from a teacher I'm getting more and more into it :)

I have made many of these books for teachers over the years. In Kindergarten a had a page for each kid. On that page was a school picture and a candid. I sent home several questions for the child to answer and then printed it out on card stock. Here are just a few questions.
1. What was your favorite book
2 favorite activity
3 what did you like best about mrs......

I did not use questions like who was you best friend etc...
The pages were very similar.
Then I did a 2 page spread for all the major activities.
Like some one above mentioned I added a few blank pages and scrapped the last day.
I also either had a parent write or I wrote something personal and touching directly to the teacher. This was usually my last page in the book.
I now give a DVD of the year to all the kids in my kid's classes. The teachers love this too. So I added a pocket page to the book for the DVD.

Once past kindergarten and the level of activites I now do just an activity book and usually have lots of group shots.
Good luck I hope you take some pictures once the book is finished.

This is such a great idea.
Do you mind if I use it? I'm not very good at the question stuff. I was gonna have 1 question it was gonna be your 3 one. LOL
