My daughter-in-law is a para-pro for special-ed at the local middle school. I have seen a good discount at the Dolphin and a fair one at the Swan for teachers. Do you think para-pros would be included in this? Are these considered Disney resorts when it comes to free dining? If you have stayed at either of these, let me know what you think, please. We might be able to stay there at a good savings.. enough to make up for free dining, if not valid there. Thanks

I could be wrong but I was under the impression that you had to show your teaching certification and a current pay stub? again, I could be wrong. I am also a para in an ESE room. I have never tried to get the discount. If she cannot get it, have her look into government employee discounts, as a school district employee, she is working for the government.

my dh just had to show his ny board of ed paycheck, but that was quite a few years ago

I am almost positive that the answer to this question is no. They aren't run by Disney so the Disney specials do not apply. However, I have never stayed there (although I'm a teacher and have considered it).

S/D are not Disney run hotels. You're not even eligible to purchase any of the Disney Dining Plans nor are you able to use DME.

S/D are excellent hotels in a great location.

Any ID from a school would work.. Teacher, janitor, teachers aid, secretary.... as long as you have Id. Like a badge or pay stub. I called the resort to verify this..:)

Last year we stayed at the Swan. I called and asked for the teacher discount rate and then I asked if there were any specials. I ended up getting the room for $97.00 a night which at the time was $30.00 cheaper than the teacher/staff rate. My girlfiend is going in August this year and she did as I suggested and found a special on a suite (they have 5 in their family) and didn't need 2 rooms. So make sure you call and ask about specials.

that is good to know. I know there are many places that you must be a teacher, not just a school employee.
