I have just booked 2 pm tea at the GF on Dec 21st for me and DH. I have just a couple of questions for anyone who has been:

1. Do you both have to order the same service and tea selection? I am more concerned that we do not want the same tea, but also we might like to do different services - I'd like to try the Grand Tea.

2. We are planning on using this as a substitute for lunch that day. Although, we have a 9:45 Artist Point PS that night and will probably have to graze a little before dinner!!! Is it reasonable to expect that something like the Grand Tea would last us quite awhile before needing another fill up???:teeth:

Thanks for your help!!!

Yes, you can order different teas/foods. We always do.

Yes, if you order one of the larger tea meals, you'll be very full. You will probably hold out til 9:45pm just fine!

This is amazing. My mom and I did this several times. You can order order itemsindividualy or off the tea menu you can get the menu at allearsnet.com
We both got dieretn teas and they come with sanwhiches and then pastries and strawberries and cream
it was great
we loved it we even went back and had just tea and split the strawberries one day
we enjoyed it so much
truly a magical experience

You each order what you want..and yes..you could be quite full by the time you finish the tea and all the treats. When hubby and I went...I had the Grand Tea, he had the Prince Edward. Both were oustanding. We sampled off each others plates. Our server was excellent. I loved the onion tarts so much..the server even brough me out a couple extra.

Tea could easily replace lunch. We even had a light breakfast that day to make sure we had room for everything we were going to eat at the tea.

Enjoy!

You can both order whatever you'd like from a very extensive (and yummy!) menu. Hubby and I always have the grand tea and by the time we are finished we can't stand the sight of food. We usually go around 3:30 in the afternoon and the meal holds us through the rest of the day.

I hope you enjoy it as much as we do, and go for the Grand Tea - it's fabulous!!

We have PS for 2:00 pm for Tea on the day we are attending MVMCP. We have 5:25 PS for LTT before the party. We are taking my parents and I really would like them to experience the tea but I don't want them to be too full for dinner. I was hoping to get some tea and something small just to tide us over till dinner and I want them to see the GF all decorated for the holidays. Do you think we will be too full?

Linda

We also made a 2:00 PS for the grand tea the day we are going to MVMCP; 12/5; and are counting on it being enough for lunch/dinner..! from what I read, it will definitely do!
Can't wait!

We'll be doing this at 2 this Saturday and it's a lovely way to spend and afternoon. Order as much or as little as you want and enjoy. We usually order the Grand Tea and the Prince Edward, sharing bits a pieces from each others plate. We did the same last year and were so full we could barely eat our dinner at Palio. I think I''m going to cancel my PS for Le Celier for that night. Just don't think we'll be able to eat a full sit down meal.

You don't have to have a big meal at tea - you can order a la carte. I had the Buckingham Tea last week, which was a big meal, but one of my friends just ordered the jam tarts and a dessert pastry, and another just ordered the tea sandwiches and a dessert pastry. We all had our own pot of tea, each blend different. Those of us who had the big tea had our tea included, but those who ordered individual items off the menu paid for their tea separately. Basically, you can order as much or as little as you like. And it's all very scrumptuous!

Thanks for your reply. I'll have to check out web site w/menu. Is this something that women usually go to or do men also. It will be me and my boyfriend (in our 40's) my mom and dad (in their 70's) and my boyfriends father (in his 80's). My parents love their afternoon tea and cake and I am sure they will love the way the GF is decorated - especially the big gingerbread house.

From everything I have read the past few days, everyone seems to enjoy taking their husbands! My husband actually was excited about it (if you knew him you would know why I was laughing right now!!)

What is duck & cherry terine (sp?)???

DH and I both enjoyed our tea at the GF. When we were there, it seemed as though both men and women were enjoying their tea. It is a nice relaxing experience. As stated in other postings, there are several options to choose from, depending upon your hunger factor. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

there were mostly women and only one child, a girl somewhere between 7 and 10 (so hard to tell!). There were men, though, although most I would say were older rather than younger. I'm not sure my DH would enjoy it - he'd be too restless to sit and sip tea served in fine china, and he doesn't drink tea anyway. Nor is he particularly fond of tea foods. When we finally go to Disney again together, we probably won't do the tea, unless my parents come with us (which I'm really hoping for) - my dad would absolutely love the tea! My parents and I would go, and DH would probably take the kids to the pool or some other low-key event while we were at the tea. Men certainly will not be out of place - whether the man in question will enjoy it or not depends completely on his tastes etc.

Don't forget to buy some tea to take home! DH (a former Marine BTW who loved having tea at the GF) enjoyed the cinnamon spice tea and I liked the special Garden View blend. We bought the tea from our server for $10.95 a tin -- it seems like a lot for a small tin but a little goes a long way. I figure to get at least ten pots of tea from the tin.

I also took my DS10 and DD8 and they enjoyed the Mrs. Potts tea -- chocolate milk served in the Royal Doulton tea pot. They did very well and enjoyed this bit of gentility and relaxation.
