After two years of planning, we are finally heading off to our first Disney World vacation in just 4 weeks!! :cool1: Would you believe I feel like it's snuck up on me a bit? I'm sure I'll be on the boards a lot in the next few weeks with last-minute type questions (I've read for a long time, but only posted once before I believe), starting with:

-Tea! My husband must, must, must have a cup of tea every morning (turns out the stereotypes about the English and their tea are true). We will be bringing tea bags (only his specific brand will do) and sweetener, and will buy milk there, but what is the best way to get hot enough water? We will be staying at Pop Century the first night and the Boardwalk Inn for the rest of the trip. Should we buy a small, electric kettle? Or can we use the coffee maker for hot water?

Thanks!

Elizabeth

We bring a small kettle. If your hubby is truly English (as mine is)... the hot water from the coffee machines won't do it, as it isn't boiling water, and when you make PROPER tea.. the water MUST be boiling!:goodvibes

You will definitely have to bring an electric kettle. There are no coffee makers in the rooms at POP.

Also, you will need a fridge or cooler for the milk. None of those in the rooms at POP either. You can rent one from the resort ($10 or $12 a day I think it is?), or see if you can join a fridge swap over on the Budget Board.

At Pop, they do have in the food court, a HOT water dispenser that dispenses very hot, although not boiling, water. I too am a tea drinker, and I used the water dispenser in the food court and it made a decent, but probably not decent enough for an english person, cup of tea. I bought my own disposable mugs (so I could drink it on the way to the parks and not worry about carry around something) and my english-brand teabags.

Thanks everyone! Yep, he's truly English, so this was very helpful. I just ordered a small kettle, can't have a crabby, tea-deprived husband at Disney World! :goodvibes

Our kids are big on drinking milk, we bring a soft sided cooler for the half a gallon of milk and load it with ice from the ice machine. They do have half pints but it is not cost effective for our needs.

Soft side cooler is nice cause it goes in the luggage, you could even use it for a carry on.

You might consider a PLAN B, since the Florida water has its own distinct taste. It main impact that perfect cup of tea, so it may be possible that you may want non-tap water.

Agreed with the PP. WDW water (in the showers/tubs, as well as bathroom sink taps) smells strongly of sulphur. If the OP's DH needs a proper cup of tea, she will either have to invest in some sort of filtering contraption to take the smell and taste of sulphur out of the water, or boil bottled water for morning tea.
My DH complained about the smell of the water from our morning showers, but we never figured out an effective way to counteract the smell.

One thing that works wonders for improving the water quality is to fill a container with tap water and let it sit overnight, the chemicals in the water dissipate after a while.

I always purchase three bottles of the 1.5 liter water in the resort store.

I keep one for plain water, which I use to make hot tea in the room. So it doesn't have to be kept in the fridge.

However, I am at POR, so I do already have a fridge, so I use the two extra ones; one for iced tea and one for juice.

I agree; you cannot go all the way to Disney and not have your favorite beverage. I love my cup of hot tea (decaf) before I go to bed and I am useless w/o my first huge slug of iced tea in the morning.

Have fun!
