I'm dreaming about our next trip and I want to go to tea with my best friend. (Our husbands will have the kids while we go!) We have never been to tea at the GF. What do you get when you go? Do you do a la carte items or do you get a package already put together? What items are the best? Neither one of us will care for alcohol, I've noticed that several of the packages include champane or port, and I'd hate to pay for it if I'm not going to drink it. Any suggestions? - I must be getting hungry because I'm salivating just looking at the menu!

Oh, of course I have more questions. lol. Do you remember how much comes the assortment of sandwiches? Is it 2 or 3 tea size or more than that? ok, I'm ready to have some tea now!

Thanks! I'd been looking at the menu, but I have such a hard time deciding what to get! lol. DH laughs at me. I have to plan ahead. Anyone else?

If you don't drink then I would go a la carte.

We get the packages..me with champagne and hubby with port because it is the perfect way to end the tea..lol.

I like the Buckingham Palace tea. If I remember correctly you start with tea (of course) and then about three sandwiches (maybe four). They are small. I think I remember a pear sandwich, a shrimp salad and an egg salad. Then I think you get a scone and a tart. Then your choice of pasteries (two or three bite size) or strawberries and cream. It was really good and plenty of food for a late lunch

I just order a'la carte for our Tea in December. :) I had the Garden Veiw Boquet tea (very good!) scones and strawberries and cream. They brought the scones first then the strawberries as "desert."

It was a really lovely way to spend the afternoon! I'd love to do it again but I'm not so sure I can convince DH and 2 little boys to go with me!

I love the Buckingham Palace. No alcohol, but tons of food. Tea, five half-sandwiches--an egg salad, an herbed chicken salad, pear with brie, cucumber with watercress and something else last month. Then a scone with Devonshire cream and an onion tart (sounds odd, but good). Then either two pastries or strawberries and cream. I waddle out of there, but it is soooooooo good!

Enjoy!

I've been to tea twice at the GF. the first time I got the Buckingham Palace and it was a LOT of food. As others have said, the 5 tea sandwiches, scones and devonsire cream, fruit tart and then strawberries and cream or pastries. I was with my Mom and Aunt so we each got different things and got to taste everything, My DD had Mrs. Potts tea and had PB&J, chocolate milk and pastries. She was 3 and had a ball!

This past November I had garden Bouquet Tea (both times actually, so good!), scones and fruit tart...all al a carte as they were the items I enjoyed the most from my first visit. So, I recommend the scones and the fruit tart. They are terrific!

Enjoy!! :earsgirl:

A must do for me every trip. I like the Buckingham Palace. I have never really liked tea. So the first time I went, I tried the Raspberry Heral tea. It is wonderful. It comed in a french press, not the standard ceramic teapot.

Now I'm drooling for the pear sandwich and the scones.

Gotta make the ADR for May.

My girlfriend and I went to the tea last October. We had the best and most relaxing time. We both chose the buckingham tea. We had the cinnamon tea which was delicious. They give you a china teapot and you have to pour it into your cup through a littler strainer. We also had five finger sandwiches and if you don't like one kind, you can ask for another kind. Then you get scones with cream and jelly. We had fruit tarts, not onion, and for dessert, you can choose fruit with cream or trifle. We both got the trifle and it was the delicious. It was a big dish of it, and we were both happy that we took
that instead of the strawberries. Have a great time!!!

We did this in July and absolutely loved it. We're going again in April.

My dh and I had the Buckingham Palace Tea with the Garden View Bouquet Tea (excellent tea). We got 5 tea sandwiches, a scone, an onion tart (hoping for the fruit tart this time), and we chose the strawberries and cream which were very good. My dd's all got the Mrs. Pott's Tea with the Magical Dark Tea (choc. milk). They also got 3 sandwiches (ham and cheese, pb&j, and egg salad. After that they were able to choose 2 pastries. They all chose the strawberry mousse swans and choc. eclairs. They didn't like these very much and we were too stuffed to even try a bite.

Our server was excellent. She even got my dh a beer from the hotel (I know not very tea like). Needless to say he's not coming to the tea in April. It's just going to be a mother-daughter afternoon and I can't wait.

I hope you enjoy the tea when you go. I'm sure whatever you choose you'll enjoy.

I always get the Buckingham Palace. The GF tea is such a nice way to sit back and relax at WDW it is a must do on each trip for me :) I'm in a picture posting mood so here are a few pics:

scoutsmom99, what great photos! I'm going to show my friend! I'm SO excited! Thank you everyone! It looks like the Buckingham Palace is the way to go for the first time! YEAH! Now, all I have to do is wait until DECEMBER! I think I'm going to be visiting some local tea places to tide me over! lol.

Oh and the tea, this may sound stupid, but do you get refills? Does it cost $3 each cup? (after the first)

You get a fairly large pot, and if you should manage to finish the pot they will bring another.

Sounds like all the varieties of tea are good. I had the green tea and it was also very nice! Don't worry you get a plentiful pot of tea for your money! Enjoy!

I had to chuckle a bit... our last tea at the GF was with a group. Two of us had ordered the GF Garden View Tea. They brought a pot and I assumed it was for my friend. Well, it was for BOTH of us! :rotfl: Apparently they have TWO different sized pots! When I looked around the table, I noticed the other tea pots were slightly smaller! So, yes... I'm sure they would have no problem bringing more tea if you so desire!

Also, many people do not care for the tea sandwiches. I LIKE them, but don't LOVE them. There are some unusual ingredients in some of the sandwiches and I think you would do better getting what you like if you ask your server about your choices.

What they do really WELL, is the scones and clotted cream; pastries; and strawberries. And OF COURSE, the TEA! :teeth:

Well, I can tell you NOT to have the Prince Edward's tea, unless you are a fan of English cooking. My husband and I both ordered it, being fond of pate (that e should have an accent over it). What we failed to realize is that this is English food, not French food, and thus the roulades, etc. were unappetizing. The Stilton was lovely, though. All the sweets were wonderful- there is nothing that I wouldn't recommend from the pastries. The scones were tender. The cream inside the swan pastries was very fresh. I LOVED our tea there and will go back every time I go to WDW, without a doubt.

NB

Great! We might order two kinds of tea so we can swap, lol. Thanks! - I'm a big tea drinker. Last tea I was at was a bridal shower and I think I had at least 4 or 5 cups everyone else was on 1 maybe 2. lol. (And normally, I don't even finish a glass of coke!)
