TDS report Week 3

Well, I didn't need the armor after all! It was very civilized today...a line, pins behind the register, two pins per person per pin limit (did that make sense?). I actually had FUN chatting with folks in line. The crowd was bigger though...I am sure alot of people didn't get the pins they wanted. I am planning on getting there a bit earlier next week.

Well, I am off to the armor store now to make my return...hope they don't want to give me a store credit.....anyone want to buy a suit of armor...cost plus shipping??

Did your store have the Absent Minded Professor pin? The store we shop at didn't get them in and all the other stores in town sold out immediately . We are on a waiting list to be called when they come in (or should I say if?)

Very nice line today. Everyone was friendly in line and most of us are going to WDW soon!

Our store was short one pin again this time.

Pin #23 The Absent Minded Professor ( 8 available)

I was 4th in line so I got mine but many missed out.

Got back in line and got an extra Castle and Pooh/Eeyore pin.

Lauri, They had Absent Minded professor, but I am sure they are all gone by now... The pin they ran out of first at my store was the Sleeping Beauty Castle. The person in line after me got the last Snow White. Seems like someone "up at corporate" misjudged what the demand would be for these pins.....

My store was great very orderly. liked the 2 per style much better. I got my set plus a few extras . The pin that was the 1st to go was
Pinocchio. Saw a few regulars. there was at least 1 phone call for purchasing the pins.
I do have a few extras of certain pins which I will put on the pin trading board later.

Our store was very orderly this week, too. Behind counter, 2 per person...I know that people who arrived at 9:30 didn't get everything they needed...In fact, DH, who was 6th in line, got the last #19 (our store was shorted #19, 22 AND 23)!

Got one of each pin. But man people were rude push and elbow you to get there pins.
Pin #23 was in short supply.

It was very orderly but they only got 7 of the Absent Minded Professor and 8 of Sleeping Beauty's Castle. I was 7th in line so that meant I didn't get the castle which was the only one I really wanted this week. I've put a trade request on the pin board. If anyone has an extra #19, please let me know. Thanks.

I have to first compliment my store, they handle distribution well and all the people in line are very polite. But from last week, I thought sure that others on this board would be able to get the ones we couldn't and told someone I would help her avoid ebay and get some from someone here who could get it at cost. Looks like I was wrong. Our store had only 10 complete sets which ran out before me (yes there are collectors in Idaho). Then they had 5 of the pins and I was able to get those but we were shorted The castle, the professor, and the rabbit as well. If you have extras to sell, please post. Looks like a lot of people will be needing those. I would like to find at least 1 professor, 1 rabbit, and 2 castles(dd wants one too) for the lady in line who believe me when I told her at how wonderful DISers are.

Our store had all the pins behind the counter AND a new box of #1s! Only 5 people were there at 10:00 so we all got all the pins we wanted. Silly me, I only got one set (I need to save my money for my Christmas visit to WDW). When I learned a friend needed the Castle, I went back but that pin had sold out by 12:00.

I got there about an hour after the opening. I had to be at the Apple Store opening - I got my T-shirt and well other geek stuff. I thought that since last week was civilised that this week would be too. Not!! got to Valley Fair, I got the last two pins of 21, 22 and 23. 19 and 20 were sold out. There were about 10 left of 16 & 17, a few left of 18. The mgr there said that there was a mob earlier and many had picked the pin racks clean. Even with the 2 pin limit!

The other store was also sold out of 19 and 20. As I was talking to the cast member, he was going through inventory and came accross a few more 19 and 20. So I was able to complete my set. Seems like he said there are more people buying these pins this week than last week.

Looks like I need to be there early every week.

I only wanted 3 of the pins #16,17 & 19. I read what the East Coast had trouble obtaining 1st before leaving. I got there early and had 5 people ahead of me. They came to the door at 9:40 to announce they only had 3 full sets(like last week). They said they were a small volume store and mentioned 2 other stores with larger quantities. The pin was #23 (only 3 available).
I was able to get the 3 I wanted plus an extra #19 and 2 #22's.

The lines were much longer this week. I was 4th in line. The people in line were great to talk to -- made waiting in line no big deal at all.

Our store finally got its order of Rocketeer pins -- but they only had 3 for sale because they had to ship the balance of the order out to "some other store"!!!! What's up with that? Has anyone else ever heard of such a thing? I'm worried now that they may do that with other pins that are in short supply. I had to call a store in another state to get my Rocketeer pin -- I had hoped to avoid that. OH well... at least it's on its way now -- and I didn't have to pay some scalper on EBay for the pleasure.

My store was short of the castle pin and the nutty professor (and I got there at opening and still didn't get them!). However, the CM told me about another store in my area and they had everything!! (well every pin but the first one) I talked to the manager and she said that they never sell out and recommended I start coming to her first. The thing is that the store is about 20 minutes further away. If you need a pin really bad, let me know and I will look the next time I am there.

Again more people than last week. I arrived at 9:55 and there were close to 20 people waiting. A minute before opening, a CM came out and read the new rules, "two per pin per person, sold from behind the counter." I heard a couple of groans, but I heard several people murmur appreciately.

Once again, I met Jim Kazooie1, DW Margaret, and DD Tory too!

When the CM opened the gate, everyone moved forward, fairly orderly, formed a snaking line through the store to the register. Not everyone ahead of me bought two full sets, or even one full set. Some bought just a few pins. I was probably about 10th in line. One CM was handing us whatever pins we asked for as we moved up to the register. The CM got to about one or two people behind me and announced that they were out of two pins -- #22 and #16 (I think). She explained that they received two boxes of each pin, except these two. They received only one box of each of these, but she didn't know why. So I guess I was very lucky!

As I was paying I noticed that there were some week one pins on the rack. A CM told me that they got a shipment of pins #1 through #4 in mid-week. It looked like only #2 and #3 were left. They also had some #6 because they had never sold out of those.

So it appears the trend in Columbia, MD continues . . . Escalating crowds each week. I guess next week I will really have to plan to be there earlier than 9:55.

Oh yeah.. I did get a cool gift when I went to the Disney Store on the way home from work to see what was left (which was not much..lol) I was talking to CM's in the store and they gave me one of the little buttons with Mickey saluting the American flag that they are wearing.. pretty cool!

At 3:30 p.m. this afternoon the 5th Ave store 212 702-0702 still had a good supply of all of this weeks pins. They also have more of the #1 and #12 pins. No #7 at all.

I was at the mall this afternoon, so I stopped at the Disney Store around 3:30. They still had all of this week's pins, plus several from the first two weeks. (They STILL have the Rocketeer pin left!). Even though I had decided NOT to continue buying them, I thought - what the heck - I'll get this week's! I love the White Rabbit and Snow White pins. I think they could have made Sleeping Beauty's Castle look much nicer.
