TDR App FastPass Impact

So we really need to figure out the show lottery without the app, if this is even possible now?

So much good stuff in your post to research/Google. Where near the restaurant is the Zambini brothers stage area? The new Forest Theater is 1500 seats, hopefully that will improve odds of getting to see MMMW (which is very much a must see)?

The show lotteries using paper tickets hasn't changed. Depending on the show, the cutoff for the lottery will be 15 minutes to one hour before the show starts (just assume one hour to be safe). You can do the lottery near Gondolier Snacks on the left of Mediterranean Harbor in Disneysea and next to the Star Tours Fastpass distribution area in Disneyland.

It won't be hard to miss the stage because as you walk right past Zambini Brothers towards Soaring, you'll see everybody already waiting there. In that general area, you can ask a cast member which areas are sitting vs. standing.

Interesting, so the app does not allow reserving showtimes?

c) Head straight to E-Ticket attraction
d) After E is over obtain paper fastpass for D-ticket (and accept this may be the only FP you’ll get for the day)

If there is more than one of you, I'd consider sending Person A to grab a place in the standby line while Person B goes to grab paper Fast Passes and then joins Person A in the standby line.

However, the issue of people "saving places" in standby lines is obviously a contentious one. I don't think it's a huge issue at TDR since the standby lines can be hours long, so it's natural that people are going to leave the line at certain points in time to go to the bathroom, grab snacks, stretch their legs, etc.

It would also be dependent upon the nature of the standby line. Something like Soaring normally extends out towards Mt Prometheus / Journey to the Centre of the Earth, so it's relatively easy to find and join someone (unless they're already in the queue which is through / past the gates). But, a ride like Pooh's Hunny Hunt can be a little trickier as its a "weaving" line with various barriers (i.e. trees, etc) so Person B would have to "push" past everyone trying to join Person A in line.
