We don't usually venture too far from Disney, but Blue Man Group lured us back to US Jun 15th. Always one to make the most of anything, I decided to schedule lunch at Tchoup Chop before the show and Cafe Tu Tu Tango after the show.

First, Tchoup Chop

Ambience - calm, cool, soothing
Service - efficient, cheerful, professional without being stuffy
Food - OK. Perhaps the DS17 said it best - "It's not that anything was bad, it's just that nothing was as good as the ambiance and prices lead me to expect."

Would we go back? Maybe - if we had a secondary reason.

Would we recommend - it is a good break from the US parks.

---------------------------

Cafe Tu Tu Tango - recommended in Frommers - 3 miles from Tchoup Chop (painless via Universal Blvd - very painful via 192) was a delightful experience. DS17 would like to make this a regular event going forward (we'll see about traffic). We agreed this was about 4 times the taste delight for about 2/3 of the price of Tchoup Chop. In addition, there was art (3 working artists), dance (tango of course), etc. The ONLY caveat would be to be aware the dance is a little like pro sports cheerleaders after 11:00 - not sure I would want young children exposed.

I have been to Tchoup Chop for both lunch and dinner. The lunch experience doesn't even come close to the dinner experience. Try it again some time for dinner.

We loved Tchoup Chop. They did a nice little thing for our 10th wedding anniversary....

there is also a drink there that is as big as my head....not your head, mine....

You drink that, and you end up looking like this:

We were extremely disappointed in Tchoup Tchoup. For $100, the portions were incredibly small and the food was average at best. The service was lacking and while very nice, the atmosphere was not enough to make up for the rest of the shortcomings we experiences.

I am looking forward to trying Emeril's on our visit next time.

Just the opposite for us. The portions were generous, the service was outstanding and very attentive, and the food was just simply delectible.
Better than any disney resturaunt I've been too...Except Max and Irmas (or whatever its called) But then again, I didnt drop close to 500 for 2 people at Tchoup Chop either.
