TCD vs Virgin Fly Drive

Maybe I'm confused but I thought that TCD were supposed to be the cheaper alternative to booking direct with Virgin. I've just been looking at Fly Drives for next year and it's way more expensive to book it with TCD than Virgin! Also I don't understand if you're booking a Fly Drive with TCD why do you not get a car big enough to fit all of your party?

They certainly were the cheaper option last time we booked a fly drive (admittedly a couple of years ago now). How stupid that they don't allocate a car big enough to fit your entire party though

I've just booked with Virgin for October 2015 & TCD were a thousand pound more expensive. Really don't understand why. Pretty sure they claim to price match or price beat though so it may be worth contacting tham ?

I also don't understand why they have different cars for hire. Virgin now own TCD and they use ALAMO car hire so surely they should offer the same options to guests booking?
