After a lot of planning and changing of plans over and over againwe're finally ready to book our trip. My adult daughter and I will be staying at the Quality Inn Plaza from 5/10-5/16. We don't want to rent a car or drive anywhere. The plan is to take shuttles in the morning (are reservations necessary?) and grab taxis to return to hotel. Are the taxi's easy to get? Do you have to call for pickup or are they waiting in a queue outside the parks and hotels? What company is recommended? We plan to go to US, IOA, SW, Disney for 1 day, and Busch Gardens using the shuttle from Sea World. Is this hotel on the trolley or bus stop and are there a lot of shops and resteraunts within walking distance? We are especially wondering how to do Disney, we want to get there early since we want to hop to at least two of the parks and come home when we want to. Thank you so much!

I can only help you with one part of your question, cause I've only been there once. ;) BUT, when we went, we took shuttles from our hotel every morning (we stayed at the Sheraton about 1 or 2 miles from Universal Studios) and often took a taxi back (because the shuttles would only return at certain times). Anyway, there were PLENTY of taxis just lined up waiting to take someone back to their hotel. We never had any problem getting one, never even had to wait. The only thing we didn't like is that with a tip and all the taxi cost almost as much as just parking our car for a day (we did have our car). But obviously, if you didn't have a car then you would have to have some way of getting back to your hotel. I hope that helps!!

Thank you Southernbelle, that helps a lot. Good to know I won't have to wait for a taxi!!

i know nothing about about that hotel.

you should call the hotel and ask them about what transportation they provide.

if you go to I ridetrolley com you can info on it.

Oh, also, you may want to try Mears transportation services. Just go to their website to see their rates. We are thinking of using them for our trip in May. They offer a round trip from Disney to Universal Studios for $18. They also go to different hotels so you might want to see if yours is included.

That sounds great, not a bad price at all! Does Mears go door to door do you know? And can we pick our own times for drop off and pickups?

The only thing I can add is a picture of the amount of taxis avalible.
This pic was taking during our walk to the parking garage..

It is my understanding that you wait for them outside of your hotel. I would think that you can pick your own times for drop off and pickups, although I see someone has said that for the shuttles you have specific times. I'm really not sure. When are you going? I can report back in May! :)

Wow, I guess there are plenty of taxis!! Very good to know!

I'm actually going on May 10, as well!! It doesn't look like the transportation will be a problem at all. Thank you all!

We are going to be staying away from everything and the shuttles services are expensive as ar etaxis. We dont wanna drive in crazy florida traffic aand so we are taking the lynx busses! it is like 16 bucks for a 7 day pass! These buses go to all teh parks.

While Lynx is inexpensive from what other people have posted it can be time consuming. I think someone on this board posted that it took them about 2 hours to get from WDW to US/IOA. Its about 25 min by car.

I guess it may take that long under certain conditions? Did the poster that stated this know the arrival times etc? Somtimes when using public transport with transfers there may a delay if you arrive at each stop just as the last bus left meaning a 30 minute wait at each stop for the next bus. I wonder if this is what happened?

I also know some places the transport is not reliable such as in gatlinburg. There were suppose to be a trolly every 30 minutes in the art district and it was mroe like every hour.

I don't know what the hold up was. I just vaguely remember the post (it was an older one) and someone saying it took them almost two hours and others agreeing. It most likely had to do with waiting for the buses and all the stops they make, waiting for people to get off, waiting for others to get on, etc. I know years ago I took the bus to my grandparents for the weekend. We could make the trip by car in about an hour and the bus took three!

Interesting.
Thanks for the info. We ourselves are going to still do it cause we aint rich adn we plan on catching the first or second buses in the morning between 5 adn 6 am so maybe will be fine. I HOPE!
