Just curious, I've never actually taken one, but I think due to time constraints on my 1st day in May, I might.

I'll be staying at ASMovies. I always see taxis outside the lobby. Are these taxis scheduled to pick people up, or are they just waiting to get business? If so, are they usually waiting at the resorts?

Are there specific companies I should look for to use and also ones to avoid?

Lastly, any ideas of the cost between All Stars and Magic Kingdom for example? I'll be looking to take one from All Stars to the Contemporary.

Thanks.

They are there waiting for business. Just ask the folks at luggage service to call up the next available cab.

A few years ago, we left Poly to take up a hurricane ride out at Pop, amtrak shut down and we couldn't leave when susposed to and decided to take the cheaper resort to last it out until Amtrak got going again. Long story short, cabs out front of resorts are there for your use and the fare from the Poly to Pop, about the same as from Pop to TTC to get to MK, was 18.00. My way of thinking, alot of money, don't see how others use cabs on a daily basis but to each his own, free transportation works fine for us but then we were transferring luggage too. To finish story, first time at Pop, had to stay 3 more nights till Amtrak started to run again and when the wind came through it dropped the temps about 25 degrees, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Cabs are expensive!!!!! Two years ago, I had to take a cab from BWV's to MCO. It cost me about $50 + tip. On the same trip, I took a cab from CR to BCV and the cabbie had no idea how to get there. I ended up telling him how to go. That little trip cost me about $30 and NO tip! I have no idea what the rates are now. Personally if you need to to get from a resort to a park/resort use Disney's transportation, or rent a car. Taking cabs will be very expensive.
