Taxi vs. We Go Shop for groceries?

We will be staying at BWV in Sept. How much is a taxi from BWV to the Super Walmart? Would this be cheaper than the shop and delivery fee at We Go Shop ($22-32)?

A taxi would probably not be cheaper. But if you want to do your own shopping, you might want to do a one day car rental.

Either way, it would likely be more than the delivery fees charged by the shopping services.

GardenGrocer.com offers $12 delivery fee unless you purchase more than $200 of groceries then its free. $12 Is a lot better than a taxi. I hope this helps

You have to figure that WGS' prices are probably on the high side, too. After delivery charge, tip, and inflationary pricing, I figure my recent $125 order probably could have been had for about $80-$90 in a store. But, a taxi or rental car would have eaten up a good chunk of the difference, plus I didn't have to spend any time actually doing the shopping.

I knew Garden Grocer had a cheaper delivery fee but their prices are so much more expensive. I was thinking that We Go Shop could go to Super Walmart and get better prices, hopefully enough to off set the difference in delivery fees.

Does anyone have an opinion on which is better? Garden Grocer or We Go Shop?

We have not used either service yet, but we may use We Go Shop on our May trip even though we drive to WDW. It's not a cost thing, it's just a question of how we want to spend our time.

It's my understanding that We Go Shop will shop anywhere you specify and they will buy whatever you specify. Garden Grocer has a shopping list with their prices. Without doing an actual comparison, I don't know how you'd compare the relative costs. My guess is there's not a whole lot of difference.

On the DIS, we've seen posts from satisfied customers and dissatisfied customers of both businesses.

My impression is there were a few We Go Shop complaints in one short timeframe when the business was going through a change of ownership. I don't think I've heard of any complaints about We Go Shop for a couple of years now.

There have been intermittent complaints about Garden Grocer, and some of those have been aggravated by some surly responses from the owner...which of course, the recipients have posted here, leaving a lasting impression of poor customer service. They're still in business, so I have to assume that they have more satisfied customers than dissatisfied.

If you're anything like DH and myself, grocery delivery may have a hidden savings. That's because when we stop ourselves to shop, we just can't resist buying twice as much as we need and then we end up leaving a lot of food when we leave. In order to stop this, we've started buying what we need at the OKW gift shop-in the long run it saves us money, because we only buy what we truly need. For that reason, we'd consider a delivery service so that we wouldn't "buy up the store!"

I happen to like GG better, but only because I find the process of ordering from a list to be simpler than trying to come up with my own list from scratch---I inevitably would forget something.

WGS prices are most competitive. Marge shops whatever brands you request, including store brands. She also shops at whatever store you want. If there's special she'll get it. She gives you the store tape. Where did you get the idea of inflated prices? I used WGS for 4 years now and have always been very pleased with the service and feel I got more than I paid for.

use wegoshop!!!

Why waste 1/2 your day going shopping for grocerys when you are on vacation? Plus a taxi wont be any cheaper

Wegoshop charges you the exact same price as the grocery store (they give you the sales receipt) . They charge the delivery fee which in my opnion is VERY reasonable! They will delivery at a time convenient for both of you :cloud9:

We have been a satisfied customer for over 4 years :thumbsup2

We ususally go to a Publix. Will WwGoShop go there? Also, will they purchase wine or beer :drinking1 if I add it to the list?

Marge definitely shops at Publix - that's where she bought all my groceries :) And there's no problem with adding wine and beer to the list :thumbsup2

Another vote for We GO Shop. Marge was super. I liked the fact that I made the my own grocery list with sizes and brands that we prefer, not ordering from a pre-determined list. You also have your choice of stores and she will shop specials and use coupons as well.

Same here - even though we will have a car in June, I decided that instead of spending an hour wandering the aisles of Publix with my kids, I'll make up a complete list ahead of time (less chance of forgetting something), and have Marge meet us at AKV with it. It will be well worth the $20 to me.
