Taxi vs. Mears

Wouldn't it be cheaper to take a taxi from the airport to my hotel (Meridian on Irlo Bronson)? Mears is $38./for 2 people. Our luggage would fit in a taxi without any problem. Could it possibly cost more than $38 by taxi?

A taxi might be cheaper, or it might not. In addition to charging by the eighth of a mile, taxis also charge for "wait" time, including such things as heavy traffic, many traffic lights, etc. The meter calculates it automatically, when a sensor determines the cab is traveling fewer than X miles per hour.

While Mears may be more expensive than a taxi, it's a fixed cost. You know before you book it how much you'll be paying.

A taxi to your hotel, although I am not familiar with it, would cost you at least $50.00 from MCO. If you have provided the number address I might have been able to help you more. Taxis are good but with two people the price is going to be cheaper pn the shuttle. Of course there is a lot of wait time for the shuttle and the area you are going. They won't send you alone in a shuttle and that area does not get a lot of shuttle traffic. You will wait a while, for other passengers, before getting out of the airport. Taxis, by far, would be the fastest way out there.

Fewer than 4 miles per hour. The above is overblown so much. A taxi driver wants to get you to your destination as fast as he can. Look at it this way. He has your money almost in his pocket. A good taxi driver is looking forward to his next trip as soon as he gets you out of his cab. Most drivers iknow all the shortcuts and dislike waiting at stoplights or sitting in heavy traffic.

A taxi will likely cost more than that. Expect closer to $50.

I appreciate your responses. I thought a taxi would be cheaper, but it doesn't sound like it necessarily would be. The Meridian Hotel is at 8536 West Orlo Bronson Memorial Hwy.
