Taxi, Uber or Lyft For a Quick Grocery Trip and Which Store?

We're looking at not renting a car next trip to WDW and one concern is possibly running out of food or drink items. I'm not enamored with the grocery delivery services I've investigated and I'd like to know the best option for making a quick trip to a grocery store. First, which transportation option would you suggest and second which store would be most convenient? We hit Goodings last week but they seemed pricey with fewer choices than Publix, which we hit on the way in from MCO. It would appear that a trip to Publix, which we'd prefer, would involve I-4 and that can be a long trip depending on traffic. Any advice would be appreciated.

Go to rideguru.com to price Uber/Lyft/taxi. All will do the job.

Where are you staying? You should be able to get to a Publix easier than having to go I-4.

I would also plan on two trips -- one TO the store, and the return trip back to your resort. Drivers are not going to sit in the parking lot waiting for you to shop -- and even if they did, that would unnecessarily inflate your fares.

With either Uber or Lyft, a ride should just be a very few minutes away. Finish your shopping, check out, and then order your ride once you are outside and ready to go.

We'll be at Board Walk. I'm seeing Publix stores on 'My Side' of I-4 so that shouldn't be an issue. Didn't know they wouldn't wait, I thought there'd be a meter running to pay for the time. Hopefully, after 9 F&W stays at BW we'll plan well enough not to run out but I like to know my options. Thanks to all!

You will pay FAR more to leave a taxi meter running while you shop than just calling another car to drive you back.

A taxi might wait for you -- at a very high rate, lol.

Uber drivers in Orlando get about $.53 per mile (less than the IRS allowance for business use of your personal vehicle) and about $.08 per minute. If they wait, they're too DUMB to be your driver!

Both the Publix you refer to and the one just on the other side of I-4 (Water Tower Shoppes) are in very busy areas. Both locations will be swarming with Uber/Lyft and you won't wait at all for pickup after shopping.

I've shopped at the one at Water Tower and it's very big and very nice.

We are also planning a trip like this and will also be buying alcohol. I was considering a super walmart. Maybe publix would be better? What do you guys think?

Depends on what you're buying. None of our Publix markets have liquor. If you want beer/wine, any large Publix will have a nice selection.

Some Publix & Walmarts have an attached liquor store.

The Publix in Celebration has one, according to the web site.

Walmart's web site doesn't seem to indicate which ones have a liquor store.

We stay at BCV and always take a Lyft (we prefer Lyft over Uber) to the Publix at the Watertower Shops. There is a Publix Liquor store attached to the Publix grocery store. One time we requested a Lyft when walking out of the store and immediately got a ride. The driver was behind us in line at the check-out.
