No but my Dad had found a service that will pick you up at a Disney resort to bring you to Universal. It wasn't a taxi; I think it was a van service. Not sure of the name
I'm trying to figure out my transportation for the same trip (BLT to IOA). We have five people in our group. Should we do a taxi van or Mears? How much is Mears? Thanks!
Mears is $18.00 round trip and doesn't pick up anywhere near the contemporary. Not a bad price but times 5 in your case or 3 in mine, so I wanted to compare a taxi.
Does anyone know which resorts Mears will pick up from? We are staying at Coronado Springs for our Honeymoon in October and will be doing 2 days in Universal. I was planning on using Mears. Do they pick up outside CSR?
Yes but you have to arrange the transfers 24 hours in advance for pick up. There is no "standard" pick up location...they will pick you up wherever you have arranged.
This link is for the Mears Taxi Service Estimator What I got for Magic Kingdom to Universal Studios was $44. So $88 round trip - for as many people as will fit in the van. (+ tip if you tip - I do) You should tell them the size of your group.
The shuttle service is $18 per person round trip. So that is $90 for the five of you. (It looks like it is going up to $19 pp so $95 in 2011)
So for about the same amount of money (depending on your tipping habits) you have privacy and WAY more convenience - i.e. you get to choose when you go and when you get back.
The problem with Mears is that they pick up at other hotels as well, and when we took them, they also stopped in at SeaWorld. If you don't mind waiting an hour in a van then go for it. Next time, we'll take a cab and spend a little more $ for the speed/time factor.

We took a taxi from POP Century to the La Quinta which is about a mile from Universal and it cost us $36. We went later at night like around 9:30. There wasn't much traffic, so I think that helped with the rate.
