taxi to nearest supermarket near disney property

hi guys - we're coming over from cold wet england in january and this time don't intend to hire a car. much as we love disney, we do like to visit the local wal-mart or similar to stock up on some provisions.last time we visited we were in the pop century and used to drive down to a wal-mart near the old town. this time it'll be a cab from somewhere near to the port orleans or downtown to a supermarket that might be nearer than kissimmee. anyone know where the nearest supermarket might be- i figured a cab from downtown to somewhere might be the best option. any help appreciated.

You will want to avoid the nearest supermarket. That would be Goodings, which is across the street from the far end of Hotel Plaza Boulevard. Really high prices, poor selection and pretty messy from all reports. Instead, head for a Publix or Wallmart Super Store.

If you are looking for food, you can also order groceries online and have them delivered to you for a small fee. We have done it and it really is a time saver!

Grocery delivery: We Go Shop (wegoshop.com) will shop at the store of your choice. No minimum, there is a service charge. Garden Grocer (gardengrocer.com) has a well-stocked website, with prices. $40 minimum, slightly lower service charge, sliding down as your total goes up, $0 if you spend $200+.

Either company will buy you liquor, with restrictions.

I went to Publix last fall..........OKW.....taxi was $17.00 plus tip $3.00, so $40.00 round trip.


I told the driver to be back to pick me up in 1 hour....it worked out fine.
