We are staying in Port Orleans Riverside. Our reservation at CM is 7:15am. We want to take a taxi but I was advised that the taxi service charges per person. Friend told me she was charged $18 for 2 people and her son was free because of his age. (I should add they were staying off property when she used the taxi service.)

Is that correct? Am I to expect a large tab? Anyone done this recently?

TIA

we took a taxi from the Ca Grill to All Start Movies because I got soooo sick after I ate there(another story for another time). I couldnt go on a bus back to the hotel cause I wouldnt have made it so we got a cab for me and DH at 10 PM. it cost us $30 plus tip. I was sooooo surprised it was that much!! I dont pay that in a big city!!!

We took a taxi from POR to Grand Floridian last year (there were 5 of us) and it was about $20 including the tip. There was a meter running just like there is in a regular cab, it wasn't per person.:confused3
Oops, just saw that your friend was off site. There are some companies who will charge a flat rate to transport you somewhere. But, the front desk at POR just called us a regular old cab.

Ouch! I love the AllStars (staying at Movies next month!) but their biggest drawback IMO is how long it takes to get to MK. I was surprised at how much less time it took from POR so hopefully the OP will have a better experience.:goodvibes

whewwwwwww! That sounds more acceptable.

I should ask the front desk to call a cab? How much time should I allow? 20-30 minutes?

Thanks again.

Hopefully gas prices haven't driven the cost up too much!

Ours came in about 15-20 min. but it was late afternoon/ early evening. I don't know if it makes a difference in the am or not.:confused3

Just head outside at most resorts and look for a CM and they will get a cab for you, almost all the resorts will have a taxi or 2 on property just a few steps away. From CSR to WL was our most expensive and it was like $13 or so before tip? And it's per cab, not per person.

Last year we (the four Big Guys) ate late at WCC at WL. We would have had to take 2 busses to get back to AS-Mu, so we took a cab. He was sitting out front. Cost $15.25. As we weigh a total of 1075 pounds, we were glad they didn't charge by the pound! We tipped well and felt it was the best 20 bucks we spent all week.

Taxi? Why not the bus and then transfer to the monorail at the MK? Try this link for calculated times... it includes taxi travel times.

Thanks for the link. Taxi time 13 minutes and disney bus 35 minutes and that is not including standing and waiting for that bus. Awhile back a poster told me it was easier to get a taxi than be in line for bus an hour before time.

At the current time area taxi rates ar $2.20 for the first ¼mile and then 55¢ per additional ¼ mile. So it is $3.85 for the first mile and $2.20 for each additional.

And the price is per trip, not per person.

From PO to Contemporary is about 7 or 8 miles, you you are looking at about $20 plus tip.

Probably because a 7:15 am ressie at a resort is going to be a pain. Now they could take the bus to MK and walk to the resort probably quicker unless a monorail was already there. There are times when it's just easier to take a cab if you dont have your own wheels. Sure you can use disney transportation, but at that time of the morning, one little slip will make you late. At least that's my opinion.
