My wife and I are taking some friends with us on our cruise, and they wanted to see Atlantis. We have been to Nassau before and were planning on staying on the boat, but now we will be going with them. We do not want to do the excursion.

Is it possible to catch a taxi to Atlantis, and if they want to, for them to be able to do the tour of the digs and aquarium?

According to my Passporter, fares are negotiable, but expect to pay $8 for two people and $3 each for each person extra.

Yes there are taxis take the automobile not the water taxis. We have done both. Also ride is cheap.

Our large group caught a few taxi's (really limos, so funny!!) to Atlantis - I videotaped the whole ride -
Anyway, We get there, check out the lobby, go downstairs and look into the aquarium windows, walk through the casino, past the expensive shops and through the Atlantis "catacombs" out past the RUI Resort to the Free Beach.....and that's it. If we wanted to do anything else in the Atlantis Resort, we had to spend $250 on a room! No Ifs, Ands or Buts.

That was the one day on the vacation when I did not Micro-Manage. We figured we'd just be Freebirds, go with the flow and see what will come up. But after being in the resort for a half hour and coming to a stand-still, my husband, who makes fun of my planning, was actually angry that I did not plan this one out. He didn't actually say that, but when I threw it up to him, he did not disagree.
So if I were to go back to Nassau, I would definitely find something else to do. If you're not paying for the day pass to Atlantis, it would be okay to visit the lobby and the shops and check out the casino (sans kids) and eat lunch there, but then you better plan something else to do outside of Atlantis 'cause security was all over the place and if you did not have a room there, they would not let you do anything. Maybe it was our large group?

Taxis are $4 per person and regulated. Just got back from the Wonder 5/22 cruise.

The extra couple of dollars for a taxi are worth it! The hike from the water taxis to the hotel was not pleasant in the heat!
