Taxi Service

Hi.. I have some questions.

Which taxi service do I call?

If I'm calling a taxi from the MK to Coronado, AND from DHS to Coronado, where do I find the taxi at? Approx what are those prices?

You don't need to call. Odds are, there will be taxis waiting at the hotel. If not, Bell Services will get one for you. Just walk out the front door.

At DHS, if you don't automatically see a slew of taxis just beyond the buses, ask any Cast Member where the taxis pick up.

Rates are something like $2.25 or $2.50 per mile, plus the meter ticks up for 'wait' time - at traffic lights, in traffic jams, etc.

Mears is the official taxi company of Walt Disney World.

There's no taxi service at the MK park itself. You'll either need to take the monorail to the taxi stand at TTC, or you can walk to the Contemporary (or monorail to it) and get a taxi at the front entrance.

At the TTC, follow the monorail beam out and to the right; the taxis are across the lot from the tram drop-off.

At DHS, as you leave the main entrance walk out to the bus area, and to the right past load zones #7-9. Then follow the sidewalk all the way past load zone #14, and continue on the marked path along the tram lane. You'll see the taxis in the nearest part of the main parking lot.

From MK to Coronado approx $12-$14 plus tip
From DHS to Coronado approx $7-$9 plus tip

Fares are calculated to the Ranchos area, to the main lobby it should be slightly less.

Thanks!
I'm taking my daughter alone and we'll only be out 2 of the nights and I didn't want to take the bus back having her and a stroller alone..

Is there a map or directions to walk over to the contemporary?

Depending on the age of your daughter you may need a car seat. I believe the law says under 4 they are required to be in an approved car seat, over 4 they can be restrained by seat belts as long as the seat belts can restrain them without needing a booster seat.
I hope that makes sense.
No means of restraint are required on buses though.

If you mean walking from the MK to the contemporary here is a link to a map by Robo:

I'm sure others will be glad to know that Mears taxis carry car seats, the subject comes up from time to time. I searched their website once and couldn't find any info about car seats, but never bothered to call them, so I learned something too.

Thank You, and have a wonderful and safe trip.

I was seized ... er... uh .... inspired by Robo's map to try one of my own. Here is my humble attempt at a map to the DHS taxi stand:

You did a great job, looks just as good as Robo's.
What program did you use, I like the push pins.

Thanks.

Just your basic Google Earth. I deselected all layers to get a clean map, then added the Route and Places. Did Copy Image from the Edit menu, pasted into MS Paint, and saved as a jpeg. Nothing fancy.

Geez Joel, you've got a high paying job already. You making that excellent map might be forcing Robo to look for a new line of work. I wonder if he would want to drive a WDW bus?
