taxi or hire driver in Nassau

We thought we might like to go to a quiet pretty beach for a few hours then spend the afternoon on ship. Not interested in a large crowd. Has anyone hired a driver or taken a taxi to a nice beach? Something besides PI Where is the blue lagoon beach? Can you get there by taxi or only the tour?

There are lots of taxi's at the dock. we've never hired one at nassau, but we have at other ports. Make sure before you get in the cab, to tell them where you want to go, then agree on a price before you go or you'll get ripped off big time. The cruise lines will warn you about this, always set your price before you go. Most places we've used them are from 5 to 10 per person each way. The shopping director on board will be able to answer your questions for sure. He will know the going rates for the place your at.
