Taxi Options To The Parks

Reading a lot about how unreliable the Disney transport options are to the parks in regards to early park entry and rope drop. Thinking that it might be a good idea to factor into my daily budget taxi or Uber fares. I have read though that they hold the cars at the carpark gates and don't let people in until after EMH's are over thereby ensuring that priority is given to onsite visitors using Disney transportation options. Do taxis and ubers also get held at the carpark gate or do they have their own entrance and passenger drop off zones?

There are no EMH for onsite guests. However, you are correct that cars (including taxi or ride share) are held at the gates until approx. 45 min. prior to opening. Yes, WDW transportation from resorts may arrive a few minutes earlier than cars; guests who walk may arrive even earlier. I don’t believe there is a significant difference as all will be entering prior to official park opening.

Thanks sorry should have clarified I meant this to be relevant once they introduce the new 1/2 hour early entry for onsite guests.

Since that doesn't start until presumably this fall with the 50th anniversary, I don't know that anyone can answer how cars and parking lots will be handled at that time. In the past, onsite guests were not limited to WDW transportation options for EMH. I believe parking lots were open to anyone even during EMH mornings; offsite guests were held at the turnstiles, not the parking lot. What plays out this summer or fall is anyone's guess.

For your budgeting, you can go to RideGuru and get reasonably accurate fare estimates for both taxis and all levels of rideshare service.

Thank you thats great, it will help me work out what I might need if we decide to do the taxi option.

Thanks for the reply, as with everything in this topsy turvy world we are living in we shall just have to wait and see. For an uber planner like myself I just have to keep telling myself "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming" and I will eventually make it to 42 Wallaby Way. Mind you at the moment with the land borders between NSW and Victoria closed here in Australia for me, swimming might be the only option to getting to 42 Wallaby Way.
