We were going to rent a car on our stay for a day when we go visit Universal Studios but now we are thinking of just taking a taxi. How easy is it to catch a taxi once there for our trip back to disney? I thought I read that there is an area outside of Universal where the taxi's wait. We are also going to see the Blue Man group after IOA so we didn't plan on getting back until late so will there still be taxi's outside of Universal that we could catch at about 10-11 at night???

Yes, there are taxis in the run until well after City Walk closes at 2 am.

Depending on where you're staying, it will be somewhere between $30 and $40, plus tip.

I don't know how many people you are traveling with, but MEARS transportation does shuttles to Universal from Disney hotels for $18 per person round trip. The only problem with that is that you'd have to know exactly what time you are coming back. Just wanted to give you another option. :-)

My dd and I already have Mears booked for our ride to, and from, Universal/IoA next month. But...I'm thinking that I'm going to grab a cab for the ride home. We did the DU deal...$109 for a one day/2 park pass with r/t ride with Mears pp. But I've been told the ride home can be a bit long since the bus has to make many stops if you leave late enough. I figure it may be worth it to spend the money for a cab if we go directly to our resort at WDW, rather than meander around Orlando!!

I didn't know about the DU deal! I should've came to these boards before planning my trip lol. We saved a few dollars by using undercover tourist for our ticket (1 day 1 park), but I didn't know about the DU deal. It would have only been a few more dollars all together for the additional park. Oh well, we are mostly going for Harry Potter anyway.

That's true it definitely is more convenient just to have something to take you straight to your hotel. We are splurging on transportation from our airport though (orlando/sanford), so MEARS will have to work for this.
