Is it possible to bypass the bus lines when the park closes by grabbing a taxi back to your resort? If so, do you have to call for one, and if not, where do you go to get one? Is there much of a wait or are there lots of cabs?
There should be taxis available out in the parking lot (around where the off-site hotel shuttles pick up and drop off, or maybe closer to the entrance) except, of course, at the Magic Kingdom where you'd have to wait in the monorail line with hundreds or thousands of other Guests heading back to the parking lot, and get a taxi at the TTC.
You could always take the Mears phone number with you and call for a cab - there are payphones outside the park gates and at the TTC
Just wanted to add that taking a cab from the parks back to your resort at the end of a long day is my number 1 tip! When people ask me for "tips" this is always the first one that comes to mind. We did it twice during last year's trip. It can most definitely prevent "melt downs" for kids and adults alike!
Next question(s): Where would I find a cab at Epcot? It seems like I noticed some in the parking lot out by the bus stops. Is there an actual cab stand? And if I walk to CR from MK, does valet call the cab or is there a cab stand there?
Do I expect to pay roughly $12+tip? (I read that somewhere.) I think since we will only be there three nights and will be staying at POR (I have read that the bus service is kind of a weak point at park closing), we will plan to do that each night.
OK, I just read your Fortune Cookie Surprise thread and I've got tears in my eyes. It reminded me of my family trip last year. It was me, DH,our 5 kids and my mom and dad. It was my 1st trip (we could never afford it growing up either) and it was so much fun to be able to share the experience with my parents. Have a great trip and maybe we'll run into eachother at POP!
