Taxi from MCO to Swan family of five?

I'm leaning toward Tiffany Towncar; any reason not to think about taxi transport? What would be more cost effective?

We've done both town car service & taxi service to from/MCO and Swan/Dolphin. They run about the same. We paid $115 plus tip for the towncar roundtrip, and $65 one way including tip for a taxi. I'm not sure they can fit 5 in a taxi - you may need a van, not sure if that costs more or not.

A car service gives you a set price. Many car services will offer a complimentary grocery stop. A taxi fare is determined by a meter. A car service will probably cost less then a taxi.

Tiffany generally gets good reviews.

We have used the taxi vans & their cost was the same as a regular taxi ~ no additional charge.

We always use Tiffany and the benefit of a pre-arranged town car over a taxi is this:

With the town car service, when you arrive at baggage claim there will be a neatly dressed driver waiting for you, with your name on a sign that he/she is holding up. The driver will retrieve your luggage for you, load it in the car, and whisk you to the Swan. The driver will be extremely knowledgeable about WDW and will chat (or not) depending on what you desire. The vehicle they are driving will be appropriate for the size of your party -- I use the term "town car" but the service will provide a van that's also neat and clean.

If you want a taxi, you get your own luggage, schlep it to the taxi stand, and you get the driver you get. The size and cleanliness of the vehicle is luck of the draw (and if there isn't a van waiting in the queue you might need to split into 2 vehicles which then doubles your cost, or wait for a van to get there).

On your return trip to the airport, with a town car the driver will be there at the resort, waiting for you, at the pre-determined time. This person again will take care of your luggage with a smile (unless your airline participates and you decide to use the program by which you can check your luggage for your flight directly at your resort).

You can see why I'd go with the town car service every time!

Bleeps is COMPLETELY INCORRECT!!, with one exception, that being the luggage from carousel to curb.
At the taxi stand You can very easily request a clean car, or a van or a specific type of driver. The starters will always accomodate your wishes, if you want a white non-smoking American driver in a van, that is what you will get. If you want the same driver on your return trip to MCO, ask the driver to pick you up. You DO NOT have such luxuries in a town car or limo, your driver is the driver assigned by dispatch, you don't like it, tough. I will never understand why peop;e on this board give cabs such a bad rap. I have never had a bad experience in a cab, but that is because I set the ground rules up front.

The vast majority of people are NOT going to stand there and ask for/demand a particular ethnicity for their driver or the kind of vehicle. It just isn't going to happen. I wouldn't do it...I can't imagine most people doing it. They will go up to the cab stand and take the next vehicle that comes along and meets their needs. And there is nothing wrong with that. But most people would rather have someone meet them at baggage claim, help them out with their luggage and then right to the resort.
However, I have been very happy, for the most part, with my cab experiences around WDW itself.

I've done both town car & taxi - much prefer taxis. We only travel with carry-on luggage so that's not a plus to have the town car driver gathering my bags. Last time we hired a town car they couldn't park up close at MCO, so we had to wait almost 10 minutes for him to pull the car around. We've never waited more than a minute for a taxi. Another time our flight was re-scheduled for 45 min. EARLIER, and the town car company was out on another run & had no other drivers to send. A third time using a town car, they just plain never showed up for our return trip to MCO. I had to call & give them the confirmation number, and then had to wait until they got a driver out to us. So while a town car might feel more luxurious, I'm much more comfortable getting instant results with a taxi. Just my opinion.
