Does anyone have recommendations for getting a limo/taxi from WDW to MCO? Specifically from Typhoon Lagoon to MCO? The reason I ask is that we will be doing Typhoon Lagoon on our last day with a flighout out at 6:10pm We don't want to do DME because they leave 3 hrs. prior to departure which wastes too much time.

We have had the problem with taxi's that WDW calls when the party is larger than 4. What they do is say you have to use 2 vehicles which then costs twice as much. It's probably some agreement with the taxi service they use/call but it stinks. In fact, during our last trip they pulled that on us and sent two passenger vans, of which we could all fit in one. This happened 2x during that trip.

Perhaps you should consider renting a car, you could pick it up the day before around your drop off time the next day (to avoid a 2 day rental) or pick it up in the morning of your departure day, then drive to Typhoon Lagoon.
Might be cheaper in the long run and certainly less stress and give you someplace to leave your luggage or carry-ons while at TL.
I would be in the car no later than 3:30pm leaving TL, you will have to stop for gas and return the car at the airport, that should put you in the terminal about 4:30. Some days security can be pretty slow, especially in the evenings.

There are plenty of taxi vans that can handle up to 7 passengers.

That's bizarre. Mears has tons of vans around WDW that handle up to 7 passengers. Just say we need a van for 5 to [wherever] and if they say they can get two regular cabs faster, say, "we'll wait for a van."

If they bring forward two cabs without asking, say, "We need a van; could you call us one, please?"

for some strange reason, we were told we needed two vehicles in March. I even called the number off one of the taxis and got the same answer. We did have a party of 8 during that trip so maybe 7 is the limit? that seemed ridiculous to us since we had two small children and two 12 yr olds. so fitting 8 would have been no prob. on one occassion a non-mears minivan taxi pulled up while we were waiting and we just flagged him down and hopped in, all 8 of us.

we thought about renting a car but for just hte last day it's too much hassle. i don't want to take the time to head over to the rental place on property.

our plan is to use DME from MCO to WDW, busses & taxi's to parks from AoA (we often use taxis from resort to park for the convenience, time savings and proximity to the gate where they drop us). So for our last day after TL, we will plan on taxi to MCO. by then we will certainly determined if there are any issues with party of 5 in a van, which shouldn't be any issue.

There are only 8 seat belts in the van - 1 for the driver and 7 for the passengers. It doesn't matter if you can physically squeeze in if there aren't enough seat belts for everyone to ride safely.

That's it. 8 or above you have to get two cars. The vans only handle 7. As Alesia points out, there aren't enough seatbelts, they can't legally take more than that.

The next size up vehicle (from Mears, anyway) is the 14 passenger stretch van, and those are not used as cabs. You can get one as a charter from Mears, but not as a taxi.

Just be careful that you don't cut it too close going back to the airport. You should still plan on being picked up at TL by 3:30 pm at the latest. The drive to the airport will take around an hour depending on traffic, and the security lines at MCO can be quite long. You don't want to miss your flight and end up spending extra time at the airport.:scared:
