on the mears estimate page from Typhoon L, to Universal is approx 36 bucks, one way, but it's an estimate, so just wondering if anybody else has used cabs from resort to universal and what a realistic price is, do they charge extra if stuck in traffic etc.

We will be staying at Art of Animation which i can't get a closer estimate price for.

We don't want a car for any of our stay

We may only spend 2 days at each park, so the 2 day/2 park ticket with mears transfer looks good value http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/universal/tickets.htm, it kind of works out the same price as the 14 day access on other sites. If we decide on just 2 days at universal than the one with transport is a defo option.

:goodvibes

Try http://www.mearstransportation.com/customer-feedback/ and fill in the boxes - specify "shared ride shuttle services" in the relevant department box then add your request details in the main text box. I asked for a price from DTD to Universal in a shared shuttle van, and was given a quote of $19 per person round trip. You book when you are in Florida and pay your driver on the day. If you want any more info PM me, otherwise good luck!!

You can enter the address of AoA to get more accurate estimate but as you say it is still an estimate, $35.78 then same back & tips you are looking at around $80. 1850 Century Drive, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, 32830

Mears have a sign on the door with prices, IIRC it lists so much per 1/4mile & so much for standing in traffic.

To universal from POFQ it cost just over $30, with the advantage of getting dropped right near the front of citywalk. On the way back after HHS, so about 2am, it cost us just over $25 (driver took a different route on the return. Think all together we paid about $80

Sorry to hijack someone elses thread, but was this through Mears? Also did you just phone them on the day you were wanting a taxi or did you phone them in advance? We would like the flexibility of just being able to call up that morning and ask for a taxi

It was mears. All I did was went to the desk outside the hotel and asked if they could get me a taxi, and it was there within 2-3 minutes. No need to book, you just ask when you need it. At universal you just head down to the taxi rank/valet section and they are all just queued up. Just speak to guy at the stand and they point you to a cab, nice and simple

Thank you, that's even easier than I'd hoped for! ha
And good to know there was still taxis there at 2am as were hoping to do Halloween horror nights one night!

Don't want to hijack the thread but has anyone got any reviews on the mears ticket & transport package?

We're considering going to Universal on our trip but last year with mum we paid $80 return for taxis!

A second question is, it says you need to call to arrange pick up times, as we wont be using our phones can we use the phone in our Old Key West room to do this and again where can we do this for the way back, or shall we just pre-arrange with them to pick us up after park closing?

I feel like such newbie but it's my first time as the oldest adult and full organizer of the trip!! :confused3

It was about 2am when we got our cabs after the horror nights. I think I heard they are there until 4am when I overheard someone asking.
I'm jealous. It's the first time in 5 years I'll be missing the horror nights! We had a frequent fear pass and went 3 times during our 10 days in October. I must admit though, doing IOA and universal then til 2am at the horror nights was a heavy 15 hour day!
