We have a 530pm flight to go home and want to stay in park as long as possible. With ME we need to be at busstop around 2:15 which means we have to leave the park by 1:00. Would we have more time if we got a taxi? Then we would be able to leave the park around 3:30. Does anyone know the cost of a taxi to Orlando airport from ASMovies?

If taking a taxi, you would want to be leaving ASMo by no later than 3:30 p.m. to get to the airport 90 minutes before your flight (assuming you are comfortable with that vs. a full two hours). That probably means leaving the park by 2:30 p.m.

A cab from ASMo to MCO will run you about $60 plus tip.

I guess 60 is just too much to stay in the park another hour or so. I didn't think a taxi would cost that much so thanks for letting me know!

mears used to have a fare calculator on their site.. Dunno if they still do or not.. But I would take the $60 as being pretty close, you will run $20 and still be in WDW.

Many people hate leaving WDW so 'soon' when using DME. But in all reality, you are saving about 45 mins by not using DME. When you leave 3 hrs prior to your flight time, you get to the airport about 2.25 hrs prior to departure...usually. Sometimes it's less than that depending on how many stops you make, traffic, etc.
And with security being what it is, you may need 45 mins to get through that line. Then, over to your gate, and with flights boarding 30 mins prior to departure, well...you won't be sitting there for long.
It's always better to have more time than you think you need to get from WDW to your gate. That's why MCO recommends you get there 2 hrs prior to your flight departure.

Yes, a cab will run you at least $50...they try to stay right around what the towncar companies charge. That way they're competitive. They usually run a little bit less but not much.
I suppose that you could take all your carryon stuff with you, to the park, and leave it in lockers. Then, take a cab to MCO right from the park. That way you wouldn't have to leave WDW until about 3:30-4ish.

The poster was going to leave a park at 1p in order to get back to their resort in time to catch a 2:15 DME bus for a 5:30p flight.

They could get a car service, or taxi, to pick them up at a park at 3 or even 3:30. That gives the an extra 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

Your numbers work if the family is hanging out at their resort and using the pool on their last day.
