I was wondering if anyone knew how much a taxicab to Universal RPR from the airport is? I've been reading posts where alot of folks take town cars or limos and wondering if it's just as much or more for the taxis? Also to go back to the airport, are there taxis waiting outside the resorts? Thanks so much for your help.

It really depends on how many people are in your party. If it's more than three people, town car is cheaper than the Mear's shuttle and a lot more convenient. I don't know how much a taxi is. It is easy to get a taxi at the hotels.

There's just my husband and I going....how much would a towncar cost us? Are there any websites to go to to check it out?
Thanks
Connie

To get an idea, the limo for 3 people round trip from Disney to HRH is $60 (plus tip). Therefore, I'd say you can expect to pay $30 for a 1 way ride. I'd take the limo because they make you feel speical and the car is clean with cool stuff in it. Services that come to mind are Florida Tours (they advertise on these boards)

and Mears which will cost a little bit more because they're in with Disney.

If you're not scared to rent the car, it will give you more options, let your visit I-Drive, grocery stores, and explore.

We took the taxi to/from HRH to the airport. It cost about $36.
It cost $45 minimum for one way by limo.

Connie, The town car service is great. They meet you at the airport at baggage claim with your name on a sign (talk about feeling important lol), help with luggage, and bring you and only you (ok, your husband, too...) directly to your hotel. When they pick you up to bring you back to the airport they meet you in front of your hotel. You can look at some of the websites for the town car companies and those sites will give you rates.

Some of the town car companies will, with advance notice, make a grocery stop so you can pick up snacks and drinks for your room. Saving some $ on food while there helps offset the cost of the ride.

I took a town car back to the airport recently when it was only my 4yo and myself. I didn't want to take Mears and make a lot of different hotel stops.

Considering that you won this trip you might as well splurge and go for the town car. Or you could really splurge and go for the limo, but that's even more $.

Which towncar or limo service do you all recommend or which ones to stay away from? Also for those that have gotten the return trip back to the airport, how reliable are they at returning to the hotel to pick you up at the end of your stay? I know in Vegas I've read where folks will get the limo service for the pickup at the airport, but they get gipped by them not showing up at the end of the trip to take them back to the airport and end up having to take a taxi. I'm just wondering if the limo and towncar services are better than in LV. I do think we should consider at least the towncar since it sounds like it's at least the same price as the taxi. Thanks also for the links, I will check them out.

We are booked with Florida Tours and i read great things about them on the transportation board at www.wdwinfo.com. Good luck and have fun . We only have 21 more days.

We used Tiffany. I'd heard mixed things about them, but they were cheaper than FL Town cars by I think $10. I called the day before pick-up to confirm, which made me secure that they would indeed show up to bring me back to the airport.

I have been using Happy Limo . With coupon code OTP1277 you can get a discount on fares (at least from the airport, perhaps on other transfers too).

I have found that taxi's cost about the same and the town cars are world's nicer, plus the drivers are on their best behavior (safe and courteous). So, I prefer a town car over a regular taxi in any city I travel in.
