Taxes and Buying Tickets Online...

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I live in Oregon, where we have no sales tax (we are taxed crazy on income and property tax instead. woo) If I buy my park hopper tickets online... do I still have to pay California sales tax since it was technically an online purchase?

Oddly enough, there is no tax to pay on Disneyland tickets! California doesn't tax theme park tickets, which has got to be the only thing California doesn't tax, lol!

Oregonian here too! I agree, no tax on tickets (just bought ours) but 17% tax on hotels (OUCH!!). Sucks to find out your nice 100 buck hotel room is actually 117 bucks...

We're Oregonians too! Yes, the hotel tax and resort fees are a shock! Especially coming from a sales tax-free state!

Yeah, that is pretty outrageous. I don't think we paid that much even in NYC!

Yeah - the taxes boost our total hotel cost almost 300 bucks!!

Taxes on hotels in California, try British Columbia. Not only do we have the HST of 12 percent on all purchases but then many locations charge a hotel tax of between 2 to 5 percent depending on the city and then a resort fee. As an example, the sheraton in Victoria charge 12% for HST, 2.26% for hotel tax and a $16.80 tax per night for the resort fee. On a $159 hotel room the end cost is $198, a 24% increase.

Don't forget to tip the staff.
