Tax Refund Delay?

I checked online for my tax refund status and it says that "There is a delay in processing your tax return." It continues to list the CS# and a reference #. Has this ever happened to anyone? I'm really worried as to what this could mean. Of course at this time the CS is closed. It's going to be a long night.

We had this happen this year too, our return was delayed by a week. There were several other people with the same thing on this board when ours was happening. In our case DH switched jobs this year and as a result overpaid Social Security. I am sure they were reviewing that because it is unusual.

Yup, sure have. Many times it means you've tripped an "audit flag" and they are looking at your return more closely. When it happened to me, it took months to get my refund back. I'd double check your return very closely, and those of the past few years which could also trigger the "hold".
