One of my next door neighbors loves to get a new tattoo on his chest, back, neck and stomach. He also likes to show these tattoos off to everyone because he never wears a shirt when he goes outside (during the spring, summer and fall). This man is a regular all American Blue Collar type who works in a local factory.

What really stands out is is dislike for shirts. He loves to show off his body and all those neat (??) tattoos. What would you think about someone who never wears a shirt outside?

My ex husband does this. never ever wears a shirt it drives me batty.

So much so that other neighbors have said, Please tell him to give it a rest and put on a shirt. :rolleyes1

I think I have better things to do than sit around and check out my neighbor. What does his being a blue collar guy have to do with it? I'm a professional and I have a tattoo (I don't show it off at work but it can sometimes be seen at other times). I guess I don't see the problem. If he's mowing the lawn, getting the mail or hanging around his yard I'd let him be.

ITA! We have a guy who lives on the street who is in his 70's and walks around all the time without a shirt. Who cares? :confused3

ahh i didn't even catch the blue collar comment...what doe sthat have to do with it?
good point.

But i have to agree with the bod! ;)

Is he built well with piercings also??? If so, the house next to me is empty. *wink wink* Otherwise, as long as he isn't sporting 4 sizes too small speedos, I wouldn't care if he went shirtless. It's hot outside. Who cares?

Not sure why you're asking, although it seems to do with a combination of discomfort with tattoos and exposed skin? Also, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but the "this man is a regular all American Blue Collar...." statement sounds sort of classist.

theres this guy in my neighborhood who has tattos , and he walks around shirtless, and hes a blue collar type, but he was just so darn cute so i married him

I found one of those too, NikiM20! :teeth: And I STILL like to see him in the yard without a shirt on showing off his tatoos after he comes home from his blue collar type job!

:faint: i guess i found one for myself too! he just doesn't mow the lawn thanks to assoc. fees! hahaha!! :faint:

anyways this reminded me:

when i was younger and living with my parents this OLD OLD guy used to MOW HIS LAWN in a speedo...with sandals....with BLACK dress socks!!! :rotfl: it was HILARIOUS! He has since moved, but my parents and i still laugh about it to this day!

Why the comment about the man being blue collar? Just so the people can picture the stereotype and understand who he is.

Remember the old comment "no shirt, no shoes, no service"? I remember a different time in America when people were more concerned about modesty and not wearing a shirt was considered tacky. Also tattoos were hidden not exposed. I was just wondering what people on this board today felt about people out in public without a shirt.

How about a person not wearing a shirt at a Shopping Mall or eating place?

The man you are talking about is on his own property minding his own business. Why should you care?

Should we start an "I love my shirtless, tatooed ,with a blue collar job husband club"? :thumbsup2 I don't want to be President, but I would run for Secretary! :rotfl2:

That he should move in next door! Kidding. Guys without shirts don't bug me at all. Never occurred to me that it would bug anyone.

I will be president

I never said that I cared if the man showed his body and tattoos to everyone or not. All I said was that it caught my attention and that in the past people were more concerned with modesty and would not go out in public with the tattoos showing and without a shirt. Unless of course you are talking about a beach or swimming pool. I made no value judgement for sake of discussion..

Lets change the question somewhat. What if he was sitting at a restaurant next to you, or shopping at a department store without his shirt on? What if he was not wearing any shoes in public either. Would that be any different?
