Tattletale card?

My DS's K teacher had a very unit on tattling (what constitutes tattling and what doesn't).

Basically: if someone is being hurt, or potentially could be hurt, it's not tattling, if you are telling just to get that person in trouble, it's tattling.

Worked great for us.

Anyway, I'm calling the teacher in about ten minutes to talk to her. (I hope my tattletale card doesn't get turned over!!) I'm thinking maybe the teacher needs to clarify to the kids what they should and shouldn't be "tattling" about! (Just had to vent a tiny bit this morning, carry on with your ususal DIS activites now!!)

SO- did you get to talk to the teacher??

I'm not sure I hugged any but you're right I may have kicked a few. (They were mean first!) I totally agree it's just so much more complicated these days.

I still feel sorry for little Selena though. No one should be afraid to go to school. I know those boys sure weren't afraid of me.

I am to say that at least one boy was scared of me. I used to chase him on the playground and when I caught him I kicked him. Must have been in first grade. Then he moved away and moved back after a few years. When he first moved back he saw me on the playground and took off running. Guess he remembered me.

I did call the teacher. She said the card was meant to discourage "repeat" tattling. So a child that kept coming up to "tattle" would get it flipped. She did say she would talk to the little girl in question and explain the tattle card again to the class. So, we'll see. Still not sure I like the idea, though.

Tattletale card is such a bad idea. I agree with most other posters that tattle fish is a wonderful idea. hope the teacher will listen to you

Our daughter's pre-school had a "real" phone set up on the side of the room to use to "call" and tattle or just release frustration when need be. The teacher almost always overheard what was said and if it was more severe than just a normal tattle they would see to the problem.
