Tater Tot Casserole Recipe?

this is our version of daycare casserole (also known as tt caserole) (also known as american shepards pie or poormans shepards pie though I've seen that same name on a completly different dish:confused3 ) Daycares serve this a lot as it is filing and kids tend to eat it. I've always seen it with green beans but my sdad doesn't like them so we put in brocolli.

1 lb ground beef browned with worchersire sauce, onion salt and pepper
1 bunch fresh broccoli chopped
3 cans of any cream soup (broccoli, mushroom, and cheese here)
milk as needed
2 cps shreeded cheese seperated into 3/4 cup and 1 1/4 cup
3/4 package of homestyle hashbrowns (I nuke these just a bit to start the cooking process like 4 or 5 min)

Use a 9x13 pan lightly sprayed with pam

mix the three cans of soup (with just enough milk to make creamy) and 3/4 cup shreeded cheese.

layer the beef (mixed with some of the soup mixture to bind it), fresh brocoli and potatoes

on top of this pour the remaining mixture
cook uncovered until the "soup" thickens and bubbles

then top with remaining cheese and let brown

Yummy!

I haven't made it in a LONG time, but here's our family version of Tater Tot Casserole.

1 lb very lean ground beef (or ground turkey)
1 can cheddar cheese soup
1 can french cut green beans
1 pkg tater tots
dried onions

My mom used to just press the meat into an 8x8 pan (but I have browned it first also). Sprinkle some dried onions on top (or cook with it if you're browning the meat first). Drain the green beans and add on top of meat. Spread cheese soup over the top, then add the tater tots. If you just put the raw meat in, it needs to be cooked at 350 for about an hour to cook the meat through. If you browned it first, then only about 30 minutes at 350.

It's certainly not the healthiest meal, but it is comfort food, and definitely tastes better than it looks.:rotfl2:

This is the closest one to my recipe. And DH LOVES it!!!

One lb browned and drained hamburger.
2 cans drained green beans
one of cream of chicken (or mushroom) soup
one can cheddar cheese soup
1/4 cup milk
pepper to taste
mix all together in a 9x13 pan
cover top with tots
bake for about 40 minutes or until the tots are done and it's all bubbly

The recipe I have used and grew up with is a bit different then the rest I see here. We don't have cheese in ours and we use corn. Here is my recipe:

1 Lb Ground Beef - Browned
1 Can Corn - Drained
1 Can Cream of Mushroom
Tator Tots
Milk (Dash)

Put beef in casserole dish. Add I can Cream of Mushroom (regular or 98% fat free). Put in 1 can of corn and a little bit of milk. Put tator tots on top and bake at 350 for 30-34 minutes. Very easy and both kids will eat it (so that's a plus). You can brown the hamburger with onions but I don't like onions so I don't do it that way (although my mom always did).
