Last time my parents took my two boys on the sun wheel (non swinging car) while my husband and I went on a calmer, more sensible ride- California Screamin'!
I love Tarzan's Treehouse, but I didn't get to go on it this last time. The big kids went up in it with their Daddy, and I took the baby through the exit to the base of the tree. The baby sure enjoyed everything. I meant to go up into the tree another time with the big kids, but we didn't get a chance. It's a bummer, because in 2006 I got some of the best pictures of my kids up there.
is anyone else terrified of tarzans treehouse??? omg when i went up there on our last trip i freaked! i didnt expect it to be that high! im scared of heights, so im sure that didnt help. has anyone else been up there that is scared of heights, and did you ever go back up? i really want to try it again, but im scared ill freak again lol
I will be trying Tarzan in October, but the SFR treehouse in WDW is very similar, if not exactly the same. The first time I tried, in '84, I had to be walked off about half way up. I was standing on a platform holding on with both hands.
Two years ago my then dgf wanted to do it, so I went. We got to the top and about 30 people were crowded in the top bedroom, so I hopped the gate and went back down. Last year I tried again and made it to the top. I only took one step in that room, but it counts, right? Anyway, I'm pretty sure I was back on the ground in less than a minute.
On the fear on the SunWheel, which I will NOT be trying, I think it's the height plus the lack of speed. I rode the Snoopy Coaster IN the Mall of the Americas and was terrified. It never went more than 20 feet up, but it was so slow that everything registered.
is that something that helps with being panic-y and stuff? i was totally thinking about getting something like that b/c i totally needed it that day. i was all shaken up from that treehouse lol and of course everyone was laughing at me (i dont blame them ) but yea i think i NEED something like that if im gonna be going back up there!
It isn't anything known to help for feeling panic-y. It's the same thing as dramamine, I suppose. Here in Canada they call it Gravol. But it really does make a person feel pretty relaxed, and I think it could help to take the edge off of your fear, as well, it helps for balance issues, so could help a lot. I'm pretty sensitive to Gravol, I find that although it can take a long time to kick in for motion sickness, (1 - 1 1/2 hours) I can get by on a half tab. (The first couple of days in the park I tend to take it so as to help for some of the rides... I don't have so much a problem with motion sickness as I do vertigo when I get off of some of the more wild ones, so until I get my sea-legs, er, I mean my Disney ride legs, I like it. It does give a very relaxed feeling, but some people feel too tired when they take it, so try it at home maybe before you leave, 1 or 2 times, so you know what sort of effects it would have. Good luck!!
I went up Tarzan's Treehouse once, but that was enough for me! I was super scared and shaking from it. I am deathly afraid of heights, but when I know I can't fall then I do okay. For example, I love Soarin, but I am buckled in (I even use the kiddie strap that goes between the legs!), so I am okay. But Tarzan's Treehouse is different because I could trip and fall--and it is up to me not to be a clutz and slip! And all of those people walking around you--rushing you to walk quickly makes it even scarier.
I am even afraid to ride the down escallator at the mall!
I am afraid of heights, have no problems with the treehouse, probably because I can look inward and not outward and down. If I can't "see" how high I am I'm usually fine, it's when I can see how far up I am that I start to worry. On Soarin' I prefer the middle row, which works because the rest of the family is OK with that too.
ok, now the swinging bridges do get me...they move and are not solid in mind. Even though I can see that they hold my DH, my two DDs, and my DS...I know that I will fall off or threw.
I love Tarzan's Treehouse! I have the soundtrack for that attraction on my iPod and when it comes on, it gets me everytime!
I only had one silly experience with it when there was this unsupervised little kid, maybe about 8 years old, and it was at the part with Sabor, the leopard. My friend and I were looking at it, and this parent-less child kept screaming at me "TOUCH THE TIGER". I kept saying "I don't want to touch him". It just kept going on and on until Sabor finally did his roar and then the kid ran away. It was definitely very annoying.
The swinging cars still swing. I have done the stationary cars and was terrified, did the whole ride with my fingers thru the mesh holding on for dear life....the kids all did the swinging gondola, they were right after us getting on so I could hear them screaming every time they swung...I was just really glad I was stationary, DBF kept saying he was going to swing the car just to see me freak out....I haven't done that ride since.....
