Anyone know if Target will return items with tags that I do know where purchased at Target - without a receipt? My daughter got a few back to school clothing items from her grandparents that dont fit and she wants to pick out a few new things... and just wondering if I should bother them for a receipt or if Target is good about it...

Thanks Much!

I know you can show an ID and do it one or two times a year, but there may be a dollar limit. I was able to do it last week on a skirt that was under $10.

I worked for Target a number of years ago and they would return it with valid ID for store credit only for the lowest price offered in the last 90 days. Keep in mind, you are only allowed one return without a receipt in any 12 month period. This may have changed in recent years. You may want to call your local store and verify the policy.

you can have the grandparents return it to Target and if they paid for the items with a CC then they can try a receipt look up. Our Targets do not take anything back without a receipt/gift receipt. Good luck!

Hmm seems like it must be a Target to Target thing - I will ask for the receipt I hope they have them - I havent returned anything else to Target so that will not be an issue... I do understand the stores having strict policies but the items are current in store styles - not clearence etc... and defitetly from Target... (there house brands) so I think they would be open to returning them :) I would be fine with instore credit. If I cant return the items we will just donate the items to a good cause :) Thanks for everyones help....

I'm doing just that thing in a few minutes -- have some items that I bought for DS's dorm room that he didn't need, and DH has already disposed of the receipt (or else it's sitting in the pile of thousands he has upstairs and I just couldn't find it, either is plausible). Hopefully I won't have trouble. I have returned things before without a receipt, but I think they only take them with your ID when YOU have purchased them -- with the ID (or your CC or check), they can scan that and it will call up purchases. You may have trouble without that, but they may look on it as a gift return.

ETA: Just got back -- the woman ahead of me was returning things that her mother had given her for her kids - no receipts. One thing was from Target, adn they just scanned her ID. The other things, they found to not be sold at Target, and just advised her to try WalMart. They took my things and returned for a cash refund after running one of my checks through the register (I had paid by check).

My local target allows returns without receipts. I heard a customer service rep tell someone returning wedding gifts that the max was $72 for the year (without receipt).
