Yes, you can.You can't buy a target gift card with a target gift card. The register will not allow it. You can buy just about any other gift card, though.

Exactly. I am planning on buying groceries.
Target experts: how can I use my red card for 5% off my purchase but use the gc from BF to pay? Is this possible instore? Thank you
That won't be possible in store. You will only get the 5% on any amount you put on your red card. The only way people are getting 5% discount with gift cards online is to "act" like they are about to pay with a red card. It knocks the total due down. And then they go back and change form of payment to gift cards. You might say it's a "glitch" that happens online. The in store registers are not affected by this glitch.
this answers what i was gonna ask. Too bad, the exclusions on the online ad only say gift cards and since disney gift cards are considered entertainment cards i was hoping they'd work. Oh well. The coupon does list some things not included and Entertainment and gift cards are not eligible
I just got home from Target and wanted to report my experience. I had two transactions because I was using two forms of payment. The first transaction was a $95 Target gift card (reload) that I paid for with my PayPal debit card. That card is directly linked to my vacation account and since I don't receive a discount on the Target gift cards anyways, it's easier to take the money straight from the source. I will use the gift card to buy a $100 SWA e-gift card online for $95, with my RedCard set as the default payment.
As the cashier began to ring up my second order (groceries and a $50 SWA gift card), I asked about the 20% off coupon. She smiled and told me that I "knew the code word", making it seem like the coupon is NOT automatic and you have to ask for it. She paused and tore a coupon off the tear pad and handed it to me and then continued to ring up my second order. I paid for the second order with my Red Card and when she handed me my receipt, she said, "And you get another 20% coupon for this order too". I was surprised, and suddenly felt a little guilty...I certainly wasn't trying to get two coupons. I only need one and I really don't have specific plans for that one

I just thought that I would let everyone know that they MIGHT have to ASK for or mention the coupon in order to get it. I'm not sure if I was supposed to get two coupons for the two separate transactions, but I did and I am not complaining.
Agreed! There was no reason for the cashier to wait for a customer to ask for the coupon. That's weird. At my Target they had a big sign as you entered indicating you would get a coupon if you spent $75. So no secret there.

when you use the 20% off coupon do you still get the 5% red card discount too?
