Target redcard/pharmacy question

My only experience with Target pharmacy was an outrageously expensive one! I had a script for a week of prednisone. It was written in such a way that regular "loose" pills would have to be dispensed and not an expensive blister pack. They wanted $38! Prednisone is a totally old-school el-cheapo drug. My cost at the pharmacy at work? 83 cents! (we pay cost up to $5 and 30% of cost thereafter for formulary drugs)

That being said, I still signed up for the rewards card. You sometimes get decent coupons and I figure I can get the antibiotic filled for the dentist the next time I go. If would hope 5 Ammoxicillin caps shouldn't be too bad.
My dog is on prednisone and I get hers at Target. When she was first started on it, I purchased from CVS because they also carried the azathioprine that she was needed as well. I switched to Target when she no longer needed the "aza" because I wanted the Pharmacy Rewards. The cost was the same for me at both places. The medication she is getting is the very same that is prescribed to humans. The vet does not stock it in the low dosage that she needs.

I did learn that my AAA has a prescription discount card and Target accepts it. I will definitely be using it the next time I refill my dog's pills.

This month you can get the 5% if you sign up and transfer one px.

Everything I am seeing on their site and the link from pp, says fill 5 to get the 5%, can anyone confirm it is only fill 1? It is further for me to go to Target than CVS (Plus I spend WAY more impulsively @Target:eek: so that's not really budget) so I'd like to know what I'm in for so I can make sure to get the the 5%

No, it's fill 5 to get the 5% coupon. Some months have "double reward" deals so that 1 refills counts as 2.

If you have a pharmacy rewards # (you may have gotten a pharmacy reward # with your Redcard - I did, buried in amongst all my Redcard information on its own slip of register paper.), then go to https://targetpharmacyrewards.com/cp/login.aspx?RGD=f9a3f343-4dd9-43e7-bcd2-b0868640379b&ReturnUrl=myaccount.

You will get a 5% off coupon in the mail for signing up for online account management - no filling of prescriptions required. I haven't filled a single prescription (haven't had one to fill, knock wood) but I got 5% card in the mail. It worked beautifully!

Well there you go. If you do NOT have a pharmacy rewards number already, transfer a prescription and get the 5%.

Then when you need another 5%, sign up for online pharmacy account management.

Hey, Target makes the rules; we just follow them!

Does anyone know if you can earn both the 5% for refilling the script and the 5% for signing up for online acct management? If so, would you be able to combine/stack them in addition to the REDcard discount?

If I get my 5 prescriptions & transfer a prescription can I get 2 coupons to use the same day?

You will get 2 coupons for doing that but you will not be able to stack them for 10% off. Only one Pharmacy Rewards coupon per transaction.

The coupon is good all day on the day that you use it, so you can visit multiple Target stores or even return to the same one if you want to make additional purchases during the day.

Also, the pharmacy rewards are only good for about 2 months from the date you get the card/coupon. So don't get one until you're ready to use it!

My daughter is on Zyrtec, which is available OTC (cetirizine) for her allergies. Normally, we have a $10 copay but if the prescription is written "dispense OTC", then the copay is $0. So we pay nothing and it still qualifies for the rewards. Win-win situation;)

can you explain this more? my son has severe allergies and takes Zyrtec and Allegra daily. I have just been buying both OTC and paying full price for them.

I think it depends on your insurance. My husband works for the city and their plan has a $0 copy for prescriptions that are available OTC. DH takes Claritin-D and DD takes Zyrtec. Their doctors wrote prescriptions for them with "Dispense OTC" so we have no copay. You would need to check with your insurance to see what your copay would be and then see if your doctor will write the prescription.

My other daughter had knee surgery and we asked for a prescription for ibuprofen but the doc said we could just buy it OTC so you may be out of luck if your doctor doesn't want to write a script.

It may be cheaper to get a prescription and buy from the pharmacy rather than OTC. My brother does it.
