So I am reading through threads, and keep seeing Target Red Card mentioned. Is that their credit card?

What is the advantage of getting it as I am sure interest rate is high.
Can you explain about Disney gift cards and the red card? There is a lot of talk about it so I am just curious.

It's a debit card connected to your bank account. They do have a credit card but I don't have one. With the debit card you still get 5% off any purchase

So anything I buy, gets me 5% off? Is it only at Target?

$100 gift card would then only cost me $95?

Yes, the discount is only for Target purchases. Only certain GCs with qualify for the 5% discount. For instance, you cannot get a $100 prepaid Mastercard for 5% off and you cannot buy a $100 Target GC for $95. But you can buy a $100 Disney GC for $95 or a $25 Starbucks GC for $23.75.

There are 3 different versions of a red card, a debit card, a credit card and a prepaid card.

The 5% off works on all gift cards that are not a Target gift card (specifically to the store) or a visa/mastercard. We get the for Disney but also for all the little local restaurants we got to (wendy's, pf changs, movie theaters) and then you can get southwest, hulu, netflix, etc. We end up with 5% off of a lot of things we regularly do just by carrying around the gift cards. It only makes sense if you pay the card off every month and aren't paying interest.

Can I use a Target Gift Card to buy a Disney Gift Card?
I have asked and had multiple answers. HRBlock is offering a bonus on gift cards. I can have part of my return put on a Target gift card and get a 5% bonus. So. If I get $500 on my return back on a Target gift card it will actually be $525. Then I was planning to take that gift card and buy Disney Gift Cards in store, using my redcard as well for an additional 5% off.

You will not get an additional 5% off in-store just for showing your REDCard. It doesn't work that way. The additional 5% REDCard discount only works online if you actually pay for your purchase with GCs.

Ok so if I can do them online I will try. If not, will I have any problems using a gift card to buy disney gift cards at Target? (without the redcard discount)

^yes you can do it online to get the extra 5% off :) I do it every time.. the only reason i buy them online lol!

BTW, getting 5% off is not worth the discount if you're going to carry a balance and pay interest. The interests rate on store-brand and rewards CCs is always higher than a regular card.

As soon as someone mentions the interest rate on a rewards credit card, I cringe.

I don't pay interest on mine bc it's just like a debit card... I love it!

I love my red card. I use it for 5% off and free shipping. I have the regular credit card, but I always pay it right off and never collect interest.

You can also get the cartwheel app and save more money.

Be aware: my local Target officially does not allow you to buy gift cards (Disney or otherwise) with Target gift cards. I found this out the hard way. I didn't have time to order them online, but the person I spoke with told me that you could not use Target GC to buy other GCs.

I did do it successfully though by mixing a Disney GC in with a bunch or merchandise and paid for the whole thing in Target GCs.

Rewards are never worth the trade off of paying a balance. These types of cards really should only be used by people who plan to pay them off.

I have no idea what the interest rate on any of my cards are. I've never paid any.

You don't have to use their credit line to sign up for the Red Card if you are worried about interest fees, you can just get the "Debit" version of the Red Card by linking it to your bank account and you still get the 5% off and free shipping.

I would not get another CC for Target, myself, but I am happy with the debit card.
