Target red card limit

Hi all my mom is a retired target employee but she still has a target employee 10 percent off card as well as her target debit card, will target allow both to be used on a disney gift card purchase? Thanks in advance.

Unless there's something different for retires, yes. My DH is an employee and we can stack those discounts.

I am having the worst experience with the red card.

Im having a DCL Wedding and am paying for not only the wedding portion ($4,000) and my stateroom but also the staterooms for 4 other people PLUS my honeymoon cruise (doing a B2B) THAN a week in disney world, in total i need about 8,000+ in GC. I opened my debit card in feb. I was limited to 2-300 PER WEEK! I have spoken to card services numerous times and no one can tell me what my limit is per transaction or how many transactions im allowed to do per day. Finally someone told me to do only 2 per day and wait till those clear my bank before adding any more. So for a few weeks i did 2 transaction of $500 each ($475 after discount) every friday then 2 fridays it started declining my 2nd transaction dropping me down to only being able to do one a week of $500. Last week the manager (at the request of the card service rep i called) was able to give me another $500 with the 5% discount using another form of payment. Still no one can tell me what the limit is or how it gets calculated. now i go today and the stupid store manager wouldn't even let me try to rind up all the cards i needed, telling me there was a 5 card per person per day limit so i was only able to get $300 (he "did me a favor" and let me get 6 cards)

Im getting so frustrated with these limits. I mean i under stand having to build up "history" with them and the need for limits only IF someone can tell me what my limit it... If i new the limits id be happy and move on but the fact that no one can tell me is annoying and frustrating so i stand at the counter and hope and pray they go thru and when they don't and get declined i feel like a "donkey butt" like im poor and have no money but here i am trying to buy a large number of cards.

and the managers are not much help either, one told me she would only do the 5% discount on $300 with another form of payment and that's after i negotiated with her when i said $7000 and she said $100... the compromise was $300... yeah great compromise... the 2nd manager only did the 500 and wouldn't do more and that's when she was on the phone with card services.

Ive been hitting up target once a week since the end of feb and im sooo over it. Once this trip is done i don't think ill shop at Target ever again. If i was only saving like 50-100 i would just say eff it but when your talking 500+ in savings... that savings can pay for my meal plan!

No manager needed for my $2450 that I mentioned above. Used the Red Card 5% plus the Pharmacy Rewards 5% plus a $10 off 50 coupon. Mine is a credit red card, not a debit one. Maybe that is the diff.

I'm hoping that you pay off the total every month? (not related to your post): People need to be very careful when they're using credit and not debit with these Target gift cards. If you aren't going to pay off the credit card, don't buy the gift cards; it doesn't make sense. You're basically getting a loan for a very small amount and then paying a very high interest rate..

I think that part almost goes without saying on a board like this.

I buy tons of these cards but the savings would be wiped out in one or two months if it wasn't paid off every time. In that case Disney's 6 month no interest deal is much better, if you have a package and if you really "need" to go that badly. I wouldn't charge any vacation I can't pay off though.

This is my frustration as well. Last Friday, I did end up calling the number again on the red card and this time asked for a supervisor. While even she couldn't tell me what my magic limit was, she did at least give me more information that anyone else as far as when I could go back. She mentioned that the fact that I was approved for the $1900+ in one transaction tells her that is my "estimated" limit. She then told me to wait a day or two until I see the debit go through at my bank. Once it does, she told me to log on to the Target debit website and check to see that the transaction has been posted and once it has been, I'm good to go back to Target and repurchase more cards sticking to the same number as I previously purchased. When it comes to a large dollar amount, it really isn't a "daily limit" because she did say if I had tried to go back the next day and purchase another $1900 worth of cards it would have been declined. The funds have to clear with the bank and then get posted on their side before trying another large amount. This finally made sense to me and I'm so glad I didn't listen to the store mgr. who suggested I go back the next day and try again because not only would it have been declined, but the minute she'd scan my pharmacy rewards card, i would have only been able to use it that day and it would have gone to waste as she refused to give me any discount manually using another form of payment!

So heads up to everyone

I just got off the phone with Target cooperate headquarters. They said that each target store can limit the quantity sold of any item in the store including "entertainment cards" and there is nothing cooperate can say or do to them to allow more. So like the store i went to last night set that limit at 5 cards per person per day(even tho just at the beginning of this month I was able to buy 20 at the same store) yet i have a friend in NY who says her store limit is 10,000 cards...

Just a warning to everyone.

This sounds like a lot of work, driving and hassles for 5% or $400 in your case. You would probably better off by applying for these high signing bonus credit cards and racking up points/miles in the comfort of your home.

Do you have another store you can go to?
I don't expect many stores would have a limit that low.

I don't have good credit to get any additional credit cards.
I don't typically make special trips, I go when im already in the area running errands.

Yeah I have a few I can go to, one i like to go to better. I was just in the area of this one at the time so i went. Never again. I have learned my lesson.

So I wanted to report back as I went to my local Target last night to purchase the last of my gift cards to pay off my trip. Everything the Target Debit supervisor told me last week about waiting for my check to clear and waiting to see it posted on the Debit website before going back was a crock of you know what! I went in grabbed the same amount of gc as I had done last week (44 of them), scanned my pharmacy rewards card, then scanned my debit and it didn't go through. I had a very nice young man who was cashing me out and he called the number, they told him and me it was because of the amount. So I told them that they were the ones who told me to wait a week to make sure my last transaction cleared and as long as I didn't go over the previous amount (this time it was $5 cheaper), I'd have no problems. She then tells him to cut the transaction in half & cash me out twice - made no sense to him or I but he did it and lo and behold, only the first half went through, the 2nd didn't. We called again, got yet a totally different answer. At this point, a mgr. comes over, takes me to the service desk and tries ringing my 2nd half on another register - again, it wouldn't go through. She then calls the number herself & wants to know why I'm having so much difficulty since i had no issues the previous week. We escalate the call to another supervisor and while they were very apologetic, they couldn't explain why it wasn't going through....soooo frustrating :sad2:! The supervisor then talked to the manager to "try and make it right" for me and asked if she would give me the extra 5% if I used another form of payment - luckily for me this manager actually felt bad for me because even she said they were making no sense and I had already been there for over an hour! Plus she recognized me as I shop at this store every week. So she did override the sale for me and put it through as a manual coupon! I have to say that I really think I'm going to just cancel the debit card and go ahead & open the Target CC instead as I'll save myself a lot of aggravation!

If i pay for my package balance with the disney cards and i have to cancel the reservation is that money lost or do they refund you the cash or back in disney cards? lol

Disney always refunds back to the original source. So don't throw out those GCs after you've paid for your package. If you have to cancel, the money goes back on the GCs.
