Target ponchos

I'd rather spend $10 on reusable rain gear than waste $10 on throwaways that won't hold up to a downpour. I bought this from Amazon ($9.99, shipped free w/Amazon. Prime).

The material is thicker than the cheapo ponchos but folds very small. They also won't fly up in the wind like a poncho will. I have Foodsaver resealable bags to toss them into when the rains stop. I can squeeze all of the air out of the bag to make waterproof, compact homes for them in our park bags.

I bought a clear one similar to this and was able to fold it up small enough to fit in a quart size zip lock bag. Same principal, squeeze all the air out by rolling it then zipping the bag so it's as small as you can get it. It fits in a Dooney & Bourke small crossbody bag or the pocket of a pair of cargo shorts if you have the man size pocket in the shorts. (women's cargos don't have pockets big enough)

Scdak, do you think a child's size poncho would fit a short, medium-built woman?
Well, I am 5'4 and it came to the tops of my tops of my thighs if that helps any, the adult one came to about an inch above my knees .

Thanks. I'm only a couple of inches shorter. Guess that wouldn't work too well

Kimmers, I just did a search on Amazon for "lightweight rain jacket" and found it. I want to say Z-SHOW is the brand name. They had purple, pink, yellow, clear, and a gorgeous light blue.

I've gotten the Target ones for my kids. We've used them for several trips and they are still intact. Highly recommend.

I just bought a poncho at Ikea for $6. I have one of the Disney ones but hate how my arms always get wet because the sleeves only go to about the elbow. The Ikea one is more like a cape with arm holes, and the hood is much more secure. Extra bonus, it has a little kangaroo pouch that the poncho tucks into for storage. Worth checking out if you have an Ikea nearby!

Well, not a Target Poncho, but I bought a rain trench at Target more than 6 years ago in a gorgeous moss color (get so many compliments on it). It's still going strong - and yes, I have worn it during torrential downpours at Disney. It's made of a thin, yet still sturdy light nylon, though it's technically not packable. I carry a quart sized ziplock that I can fold it into. It weighs nothing, so I just toss it into my purse and take it out when we get to the hotel. It's dry an hour or less later! So while I can't comment on the quality of those particular ponchos, I can put my two cents in that Target rain jackets hold up.
