Just an FYI: for all the cheapskates like me who use their Target card to save 5% off Disney giftcards, they're back in stock online! :-) Don't know how long it will last, since they always seem to be out when I need/want them, but they're there now!

I have been purchasing them at my local store. I am curious, what is the benefit to ordering online? Does it allow you to order an unlimited amount? Or do cashiers in the store have a limit on the amount they can ring up?

Thanks in advance.

No extra benefit. Some people just don't have easy access to Target stores as others. You still get 5% off using your Target Red card to purchase them. I believe I read that you can only buy a limited amount at a time, but I'm not sure what that number is. In store, we've purchased up to $500 at one time. But others have purchased more.

sdzimm, no benefit per say. But for me personally, my DH is out of country for work and I homeschool so my kids go EVERYWHERE with me. We're trying to surprise them with this trip, so they would be very curious why Mom was buying so many Disney gift cards! Buying online is much easier to hide!

PrincessShmoo, online you can only purchase up to 8 at a time ($400). I just make multiple purchases if I'm wanting/needing more than that, and shipping is free with the Red card. In store I know I purchased $2,000 worth of $50 cards to make the deposit on our cruise.

I just ordered $3,000 worth of giftcards online at Target within the last 5 days. I purchase discounted Target cards through Raise.com and then put those into my Target account and purchase the Disney gift cards. If you purchase in-store with a gift card you do not get the 5% Red Card discount on the part purchased with a gift card. If you purchase online you will get the 5% Red Card discount on the entire purchase.

That is a great idea I'm glad that you mentioned that! Is there a spot to enter the Disney card info on the payment page?

Other than paying for the cruise, what can the cards be used for on the ship? Thanks!

Yes, using gifts cards is an option. You can only enter 3 or 4 max at a time, however.

Cards can be applied to your onboard account, anything you purchase onboard (gratuities, souvenirs, photos, drinks, excursions, adult dining, etc) is charged to your onboard account. I've also read that gift cards can be used directly in the gift shops onboard, but I have no experience with that.

How does this work? Can I do it if I only have the RED card debit card? TIA!

Just fyi - You can call Disney Cruise Lines directly and use as many giftcards as you want to pay with, but yes, you are correct that online you are limited to 3 or 4. However, if you are buying a lot to pay for the cruise, just call in with your giftcards.

Btw, although I have a Target cc, you can also buy Disney giftcards in $150 packs at Sam's Club (either in store or online), and while not exactly a 5% discount, it's still about 4.5% off.

Ok.....is the maximum amount $50 per card.... For a $6000 cruise and park tickets for four .... That's a lot of $50 cards:o

That's all I've seen at Target. The cashier when I purchased 40 at a time was very good natured about it, though! If you want you could always split up the purchases and the calls to Disney (or your TA). I'm making monthly payments, so that was my deposit and the most I'll be doing at once.

I'm thinking it would be at least 170 cards:rolleyes1
So that would be multiple payments for sure.
If I start making monthly payments and if I cancel, (before final payment due)I am assuming I get all of my money back?
Thanks
Kerri

You get the money back on the gift cards, so don't trash them.

I have been researching Disney Vacation Account through the Disney site and you can deposit gift cards online into the account as you buy them.

Disney vacation accounts also give you a $20 bonus for every $1000 you deposit, as long as you open the account at least 120 days prior to the day you need to pay in full!

I didn't know that! That could add up to a nice little savings between the 5%, the $20 bonuses and having booked on board!! :)

That would make it easier since I want to buy almost 200:crazy:
Ok so I set up this vacation account....
Any expiration date for money deposited from gift cards?
Also I can use for anything Disney?
DCL, park tickets, shore excursions, Disney resort hotel bill, restaurants etc?
Thanks
Kerri
