DH and I received a target gift card for Christmas but there is nothing that we need or want any ideas that we are over looking.

Most Target's have a grocery section....So you could buy food. If you have animals they all have a pet section. Basics like paper towels, and TP are things people usually buy. Makeup? I mean seriously you'll find something you want.

Can you use it to buy a gift card for a store or restaurant that you would like?

I posted a similar question about a Toys R Us gift card.

They have a pretty large section of other giftcards. Restaurants, Disney, itunes, etc. You should be able to find something.

For security/scam reasons you usually can't buy a gift card with another gift card so be aware and don't get your hopes up. No need to let it burn a hole in your pocket just hold on to it til you need essentials, etc.

Have you ever been to Target?

We have a "mega" Target and 2 smaller Targets all within 25 minutes of our home. Even the smaller ones have many drugstore items, packaged food items, etc. The sale prices for detergent, etc is better than our local "warehouse" marts (BJ, Costco). The larger one near us has full produce, freezer section, full pharmacy. They offer flu shots. The quality of the kids clothes has been great. Items hold up through several kids and years. I haven't bought many adult clothes there.

The book, movie and music selection is very good.

I'm sure you can find plenty of items in store that aren't on-line. So if you haven't been to one, then visit if you have one close.

You may also be able to swap it with a Neighbor, co-worker for cash. I couldn't live without Target.

You've never been to Target -- right?

I can't imagine needing nothing from Target. They have toilet paper, detergent, milk, bread, apples, deoderant, toothpaste, light bulbs, batteries, computer paper, eye glasses and contacts, books and a few thousand other things. Ours has a Starbucks, and you can use the card there, too.

When I receive a gift card, I almost never run out to get something. I wait until there's something I need or want.

That's what I was thinking. My problem with Target gcs is what exactly to spend it on because there are so many options. What about underwear, socks, books, electronics, etc? Or save it for a time when you do need or want something.

Well, if you REALLY can't find ANYTHING you want at Target, you could always donate the gift card to a local Food Bank or Youth Center. I'm sure they would find lots of things to buy at Target!!

I loooove Target!

Like PP's have posted, even if you don't need anything specific right now, There are many non-perishable items, like TP, paper towels, etc. They sell cleaning products, laundry detergent, socks, pantyhose, towels, sheets, sporting goods, electronics...

I could live in there.

Anything you would buy at a CVS or drugstore?
Soap? Toothpaste? Laundry detergent?
Any paper products? Any household cleaning products?
Non-perishable foods? Soda? Coffee?
Any household or small hardware items?
Greeting cards?
Office supplies?
Underwear?

Really? Nothing? Then donate to a charity who would be thrilled to accept it.

Those items are pretty much the same no matter where you buy them.

Target is just like Walmart. Except they charge more. So in other words. They carry almost everything.

I can't imagine going into a Target and not finding something to buy.
