Target for WDW gift cards?

Thanks. So the account is still with your bank........ I wonder how the Target debit card benefits Target. If it's that easy I have to do this. I spend so much money with Disney 5% helps!

Very easy... it makes you come to Target to make your purchases! That's all they want.... you to shop there.

Ooooo, thought of another possibly dumb question:) Let's say I am buying a $50 Disney card. Do they just deduct $47.50 from my checking, or is it some kind of cash back?

They deduct the amount that is on your receipt. All discounts take place at the cash register.... it's as if you gave them a coupon. The total at the bottom of your receipt is the discounted amount and that is what is deducted from your checking account.

For two weekends every December, Target sells $50 Disney Gift Cards for $38 to Target Debit/Credit Card holders and for $40 for everyone else.

So plan ahead to save big on Disney every December. 20-24% Discount.

Also, H-E-B Grocery Stores in Texas routinely sell them for 15-20% off. 2-3 times per year they have a 7-10 day sale. While the Target deal forces you to buy your Gift Cards in $50 increments, H-E-B can usually sell you them in larger amounts.

This must be regional. I am at my Target constantly and they don't run that special here.
They have had the coupon for $10 off a $50 purchase that people have been able to abuse, but it says right on it one coupon per transaction and per customer for the dates.

As far as I know, there is very little the cards don't work for.

I personally have used them to pay for:

[*]Dues for the Disney Vacation Club
[*]Tickets at WDW
[*]Restaurants within WDW
[*]Spending money on the Disney Cruise Line
[*]Spending money at Downtown Disney
[*]To pay for hotel costs at WDW.

That should cover almost all of your needs! :thumbsup2

You can use them for the dues for DVC? Well, that just gave me a whole new reason to keep buying those from Target!

two weekends in December for the past 2 years there has been a printable coupon on Target facebook page for a free $10 Target GiftCard with the purchase of $50. You buy a Disney gift card for $50 use your Target Debit/Credit Card for the 5% off and you get a $10 giftcard that you can use to reduce the cost of another Disney Gift Card.

In addition to what psimon said, the main reason is that it makes you more likely to shop at Target, but a secondary reason is they have your money right away, with no fees as they do with credit cards or other bank's debit cards ...

Dumb question--- is there tax on GC purchases? because our local sales tax is 6% so getting 5% off doesn't even cover the taxes....????

No! I live in PA and we have 6% and I paid 47.50 for a 50.00 GC

I have never paid tax on gift cards, regardless of vendor or type of card. Sales tax is only applied to a purchase of something. All you did was change what the money looks like... but it's still just money.

Not regional. This deal (the $10 target gift card for free with $50 purchase) is what I think the person was talking about.
