Has Target stopped giving the red card discount for online orders when you use a gift card in place of your "preferred" Target credit card?

I've placed 2 orders now and my red card discount was applied then taken away when gift card was applied.

Not complaining since it was a perk, but just making sure I'm not doing something wrong.

Over black Fri weekend as long as I paid for part of the order with my RedCard the whole thing got the 5% discount. But the webpage was a little different than I remember it being as was the process... I don't recall exactly but I think I started by selecting pay with my RedCard, then entered the gift cards. If the gift card amount exceeded the total owed I lost the discount, even after removing the extra gift card and selecting my RedCard for the remainder. I had to close out and start over and be sure not to enter a gift card that would exceed the total purchase price to keep the 5% off the total.

I just did a test with a store pickup item and the 5% discount is applied even with a gift card covering 100% of payment. I didn't actually hit the purchase button, but I went just short of there.

Make sure you are signed into your account (with your redcard info saved) and aren't checking out as a guest.

ETA: I also did the same thing but with a shipped item, and I still got the 5% discount there too.

I'm definitely signed into my account and my Target CC is my preferred card. It gives me the discount until the GC is applied. Then not only does it take away the red card discount, it also shows I have a balance(the red card discount). I couldn't bypass until I put my security code in. At which point my GC was charged the full amount, including the red card discount amount.

The gift card was over the amount I owed.

Is this from a computer, or your phone? I'm on a computer, using Chrome.

If you are on a computer, you might want to log out of your account, kill all your open browser windows then start over. See if that helps. You might also want to try changing browsers - I've had things go wrong on Target before and had to switch from Chrome to IE to get it to work right. Let's just say I am not a huge fan of Target's development team.

There's always deleting cookies too - but I hate doing that!

I just placed an order paying 100% with Target gift cards. The 5% discount came off.
So, it still works perfectly.

Last few purchases i made @ target, i buy as $$ gift card to match it as close as i can, then put the rest onto my redbird. works well as it takes 5% off on the total and i only charge like $.40 to my redbird card. :D

Haven't there been other threads about this? I thought it worked fine and then your order gets cancelled a while later?
