Hey everyone! I can totally understand your frustration. I just wanted to mention a couple of other ways that similar deals can be obtained. It may not work for everyone, but this is what we have been doing and in the end we are saving a total of 10% on our cruise, plus getting $80 in Disney Gift Cards to use as onboard credit.
~ Wholesale clubs like Sams Club sell Disney Gift Cards to their members at approximately 5% off the face value (For example: A 3-pack of $50 DGCs that are normally $150.00, sell for about $143.00)
~Paying for the cards with a Chase Freedom Credit Card gives the purchaser 5% cash back from now through the end of the year (beyond that, the 2017 reward calendar has not been released)
= So there is your 10%!
Then, we are opening a Disney Vacation Account (must be open a minimum of 120 days, regardless of how much is in it) and putting the DGC balances into the account. We will pay the final cruise balance with our Disney Vacation Account and for every $1000 dollars spent, they send you a $20 Disney Gift Card by mail. Make sure you have requested the Gift Cards at least 6-8 weeks before sailing to ensure they arrive in time.
I know that not everyone will be wholesale club members or be willing to take the plunge to become a wholesale club member (we did...it was $45, but we got their $100 annual membership for that price, as well as a $25 Sams Gift Card and a handful of free food items - 16" Take and Bake Pizza, 18 pack of fresh baked cookies and $4 off their organic salad blend). It kind of paid for itself in so many ways...not to mention the cheap gas....if they have a gas station at your location.
Sorry for the long diatribe, but I wanted to let people know, it can be done another way. Cheers!
