Can someone explain Target Cartwheel program? Does it save you money? I just don't seem to understand how it works.

TIA!

It has a rotating offer of discounts and from what I read it replaced the Target mobile coupons (the ones that sent you a list of coupon like discounts for a set of items, not the category coupons that also appear in the print ad). You get a number of slots and can choose the discounts you want. If you buy groceries they often have staples like milk, eggs, bread etc on there. Occasionally they have some really specific yet great discounts (such as a toy or game for 50%). You can use the free store wi-fi and link it to your facebook account for easy login. If you accomplish a task they may give you another spot for more discounts. At checkout you get a barcode that you show them and the register will apply any valid discounts you have added. It also works on top of any sale prices so if you combine this with coupons and Ibotta it is totally worth it.

Yes-if you typically buy the items the offers are on. You just download the app and look through the offers such as 5% off glade add it to your list on the app-then when you check out you have the cashier scan the barcode on the app for your account and you get the extra 5% or whatever the deal is. It saves me money and takes just a minute or two before I go in.

When you have it downloaded to your smart phone you just scan the items as you put them in your shopping cart as you walk around. If the item has a coupon it will tell you when you scan it and you can add that coupon to your cart wheel coupons. Then when you go to check out you pull up one bar code that holds all the coupons you added. They scan it and all the discounts are taken off instead of handing a stack of coupons to the cashier. The more you use it the more slots open up as you accomplish little goals. The nice thing is you can use cartwheel, target coupons, and your basic newspaper coupons all together, even all on the same item. You can look thru all the coupons before you shop too if you like but I just scan as I shop. The only ones I'll look at is the Hot deals section which show all the coupons with high percentage off. If you like to buy Target's Brand products they offer a lot of coupons for them.

Yes, saves me money as well. Besides adding offers to your phone/app to use on things you are buying be sure to scan everything you buy. There have been times I've missed an offer but since I scan every item I pick up, if there is a discount offer on it, it lets me add it to my list!

Plus the Red Card Discount. And watch for the text discounts at Target when you shop. For me its worthwhile to swing through - oh, say the pet supply section - and then when they have a text coupon for $10 off if you spend $30 (or whatever) stock up on kitty litter.

I don't buy too many of my groceries at Target, although it is the closest non-luxury store to my house - my closest Target has the smaller grocery section than a huge Target does. But it is worthwhile when I do run to Target - since I'm usually running for the stuff where there is always discounts on the Market Pantry or Archer brands (milk, bread). And its usually worth it for my teenage daughters makeup obsession.

I had the same question. I was looking in the clothes section awhile back and a store associate mentioned it. While I had heard of it I didn't really know what it was. I don't think I really buy enough to make it worth it. Why do you have to go through hoops to get a better deal?

Can you get the cartwheel discount if you shop online? Thank you.

Because having your jump through those hoops gives them something they want. Data. Traffic. Increased customer loyalty. Its a transaction, they give you something you want (a discount) you are giving them something they want.

We use the Cartwheel app in-store to check if there are any discounts. You just scan the barcode and the app will either display the discount or suggest an alternate brand. We've found that quite a bit of the Target branded products ("Market Pantry" and "Up & Up") will be discounted 5%, which when stacked with 5% using the Target Red Card, is a sweet 10% savings.

Yep, and the longer you spend on the site the more likely you are to add more things to buy. Its sneaky fishy but I can't really blame them for trying to make a buck.

I tried it when it first came out. A few weeks into using it (I only grocery shop) I had only saved a few dollars. It took me so long to scroll through the app I was always on the verge of headache when done. It just wasn't worth it to me. My recommendation is download the app, follow the instructions, try it for a couple shopping trips, see how much it saved you (I think the app kept track) and make a determination whether or not to keep using it for yourself from there.

I have saved SO much money using Cartwheel. It's tricky, though, because sometimes the deals are so good you buy stuff just because it's a bargain and not because you really need it. Lol

Today, for example, all women's clothes were 30% off with Cartwheel, so of course I bought some tops that I didn't really need! But I also got a good discount (20% I think?) on cat food and sunscreen, too, and I needed those!

I'm on the fence about whether it's actually worth it, but I use it. I don't go to Target super often, but often enough (once every couple weeks). I've had the app since 2013 (it tells you on the app) and I've saved $36.14. Lol so not great. But I only scan as I shop, I don't look through the offers so sometimes not a single thing in my cart will be discounted. When combined with the Red Card it's not bad though. It's simple to use if you don't look through everything and just scan as you go.

But I can do that without jumping through hoops.

I have saved over $240 since 2013... To me it is worth it when I have time to do it. If I am in a big hurry I won't mess with it.

I definitely use it, although sometimes do forget. But I've still saved $112.92 since 2013. It's $100 in my pocket instead of theirs! And I only use it on stuff I'm going to buy anyway.

Then shop where you can do that. Target has decided to do it this way. If you shop at Target, Cartwheel and the Red Card can be "worth" the hoops. If you are thinking about shopping at Target, its worth a try. If you have somewhere you'd rather shop, shop there.

I hardly ever scroll through the deals, I just scan as I shop. I like that even if what I scan isn't on the cartwheel it will give me similar items. Like if I scan up and up aluminum foil but reynolds is on the cartwheel. Then I can figure out if reynolds with the discount is a better deal than the non discounted up and up. It doesnt take too much time, although I always feel i am the only one picking up and scanning everything before putting it in my cart!
