Target Cartwheel worth it?

Here's the deal…I don't look up stuff on cartwheel other than a brief look at the "hot deals" tab. Otherwise I just scan stuff as it goes into my cart. If it is a good buy, I buy more. Even if it is just 5 or 10% it adds up over time and I'd be buying those items anyways. I also read my email that showcases the best deals of the week but I never waste time going through all of the tabs in the actual app.

Hot deals and then scan as you cart it!

Hope that helps
Kim

I have saved over $300 since July 2013. I suggest checking it when you check your email. For me it is in the morning when I wake up. I sort by discount amount. I've gotten 50% Halloween costumes and other higher ticket things that way but they typically limit the number if them. Also, some high value deals are only good for a day, especially before Christmas.

I would think that scanning stuff is more work than looking at the app for like 10 mins. If I am buying groceries, I look at that section of the offers. I know there will always be an offer for milk and fruit. I sort them by discount, it goes highest to lowest. So if something is discounted I will also search for coupons to make the deal even sweeter. It's easy, it's free, I'd probably just be on Facebook or disboards anyway,

Sometimes it does seem like a bother but I did get a purse totally free by combining Cartwheel 20% off with the buy 1 get 1 1/2 off and a mobile coupon. I was super excited!!

Their scanner is very fast.

I use the website when I'm at my computer and searching the couponing blogs. But I also scan everything to make sure that I'm picking up a qualified item and not something similar but not included in the deal. The scanner doesn't take much time to read and identify the item.

Every penny saved is worth it, I suppose, but like you said, it often doesn't seem like much.

I, personally, am NOT a couponer - I'm horrible at it, but I think Cartwheel tends to work best when combined with other offers (it's usually luck rather than preplanning on my part).

But I have often gotten ground beef at Target (the leanest they have) and boneless skinless chicken breasts (the good kind) for around $1/pound when combining sales, plus cartwheel plus the red card.

I find my Targets meat selection to be small, but VERY high quality (compared to my grocery store) yet I can still get good deals with Cartwheel.

I just did it for the first time today--saved me a whopping $1.50 on 8 items. I don't think the time I spent looking at the offerings, carefully looking for those items was worth the time...

I LOVE a good deal--I use a few coupons/wk, have the Target debt card, worked that SWA deal to get a companion pass, research big purchases to get the best deal, book & rebook travel plans until we get the best value for the $. But it just seemed like a lot of effort for little reward...

I haven't found Cartwheel to be worth the time, either, so I deleted it from my phone.

The website was clunky and hard to navigate and the pennies I was saving weren't worth the bother.

Maybe it is different if you are shopping at a Super Target, but it wasn't worth it for me.

I found that I would save maybe $1-$2 per trip. Not worth the time IMO to deal with the app. I do take a peek at it on my laptop once in a while if I have the spare time.

I've saved a little over $50 in about a year with Cartwheel, and I only go to Target once a month or less. If I did my grocery shopping at Target, I'd probably do even better, but it's too far away and I hate hauling groceries home on the subway, so I mostly just get cleaning products and hygiene items there.

It takes virtually no time on my part - I go through it while I make my shopping list. I don't bother clipping paper coupons but I'll take anything digital. I do get Target's text-message coupons (most of which are useless to me), and I do check the weekly ad.

There was one really great Cartwheel deal where it was, like, 20% off all Up&Up brand items. I rented a ZipCar one day that week so I could stock up on EVERYTHING. :lmao: It was worth it, I did the math at the end.

I really enjoy when it helps me save a few bucks.
It's just a matter of me remember to look through it before I shop. :)

I don't save a fortune but, every little bit helps. I scan everything that goes into the cart to find the deals. I have saved $92 in about a year, although most of that was because of a GREAT deal on really expensive Christmas lights for my DH last year. I think I saved over $45 on that one purchase alone.
I am bad about combining coupons to save more. I need to work on that. Everything I buy at target goes on my Redcard for the 5% and gets paid off at the end of the month.

I use it when I remember. Haven't saved a ton, but every little bit counts. Those of you saying you scan things as you put them in your cart must have way more time to shop then me!!

One thing to know about the Cartwheel is as you save, the more offers open up to you. You have certain levels to reach and at each one, you have more opportunities to save. Just this weekend I saved 40% of my Target bill with sales, manufacturer coupons, Target Coupons and Cartwheel. IT was a good shopping day.

I just look up the things I am going to buy anyway. I don't look through all the deals. (It takes me an extra two minutes to look up what I was going to buy since I am going to be making a list anyhow)

Target is more convenient for me than Walmart when I need those kind of items and it is already cheaper than the Supermarket for non-food items. Plus my 5% redcard.

I have coordinated with couponmom.com a few times.

I like that they often have some percentage off on the generic products. I also have twins, so diapers, etc. help the savings add up.

Yes it's worth it! First off because it cost nothing to have it. If you have the technology why not use it? It beats printing off coupons. I spend more time and money doing that. Also I like the site Totally Target. That helps me narrow down the best deals as well.

You make it sound like scanning your items adds an inordinate amount of time to a shopping trip. I don't think that it adds more than a couple minutes to any of my trips. Maybe it's because I'm not buying 50-60 items at a time (more like 10 or fewer different items). Or maybe it's because it has become second nature to me. I open the app and I keep it running until I've added the last item to my cart. Then I open my mobile coupons and head to the checkout. It's really not that time-consuming.

I haven't tried it, I'm sure it doesn't take much time. But when you usually have at least 2 kids with you, usually 4 shopping time is precious. Plus if you wait til you get there you can't check to see if there are other coupons that go with the offer to make it an even better deal. That's just the way I prefer to do things:)

I go to Super Target once a week--my cart is overflowing. Scanning every items would add quite a bit of time--figure a good 20 seconds per item...that adds 20 min. to my trip if I have 60 items.

Oh, well, I tried it--much simpler to scan over the ad on Sunday & get my 5% off with my debit card. Working full-time with 2 busy teens, I love to save $, but there has to be a cost-time benefit.
