Target $10 gc with $50 purchase coupon

near the front of the store they had a display of gift cards with disney being one of them

the barcode above the DGC said $25 however the rack was stocked with $50

I questioned the manager and he just said an employee stocked them wrong
(this happened a few months ago-not with gift cards though something was stocked in the wrong place--when I questioned it before a manger could come over stockers were busy as bees changing things around)

I said maybe your employees should be more careful with their stocking-I told him how this was not the first time this has happened at this store

he just walked away with the gc in his hands I bought my 5 in order to get 5 $10 target gc which I used to get one "free"

when I went back to get the last one there were $25 stocked there--

now I sure didnt expect to get $50 gc for $25 but the manger could have been more customer friendly!!!

happy though I got $300 gc for 250 safely tucked away for our cruise in aug:cool1:

We got $1000 worth of Disney GC, mostly in $25 increments. But now I feel wierd taking them to Disney. Wouldn't it look wierd if you hand Disney like almost 40 gift cards. Anyone else feeling this? Or you think Disney is used to this?

I paid for our rooms with gift cards the past 2 trips and never had an issue. I did do a word document with all the information for each one in case they were lost, misplaced, or anything. It really helped to keep track of all of them as well.

He definitely could not have given you the gift cards for the cheaper rate and since the gift cards have the price on them it really isn't an issue. With the season and the amount of people they are dealing with I can understand the frustration that retailers are ealing with.

Just so you know, it is not always the employees that put things in the wrong places. Guests will do this to get an item for a cheaper price. Sad but it does happen. Yes, employees do it too but they are human and many of them work not only stocking but also running cash registers when they need more help at the registers.

Don't know how I missed this last week. Anyone know if they are doing it this week also?

Thanks,
Linda

We purchased 27 cards this weekend, in $50 denominations. DH did the buy the first one and then use the $10 card as part of payment on the next one, continuing down the line to the end.

Then we told my SIL who is traveling with us and she bought 8 X $50 cards doing the same thing.

And then we told our friends who are also traveling with us next month and they went to Target and bought 14 cards X $50 doing the same thing with the gift card off each consecutive purchase.

And then, at the end of that, there were no more gift cards in our store. Sorry if anyone in our town needed another gift card. They did intend to restock ASAP.

Thanks to the original poster for this great idea.

I'm in central MN and had no problems buying several GC's. I at first searched out a few different cashiers, then got tired of that. I just asked if I could do 3 or 4 at a time and they were just fine with that. Then I cashed in the target cards for a disney card. No problems what so ever. I only bought about $300 worth, but it's a start to paying for food for our 10 day trip in March. Is there anywhere on WDW property you "can't" use these?

The one cashier was concerned about my gift cards only because....she told me a story about a lady who had been in to purchase 2 $100 cards, threw them in a plastic bag, used the bag as a garbage liner and GONE they were!!! The cashier was happy I was putting them in my wallet!

Thanks again!

Totally missed this. Boo I guess I have to come to the budget boards more often!!

I wouldn't feel safe or comfortable carrying around $1500 worth of gift cards, but that is just me. To me they are just like cash and you are screwed if you lose them/get robbed.

But...I do like the idea that someone mentioned of buying a gift card or two a month leading up to a trip to help cover the cost of souveniers. (Or food, but we always have the free DDP and I don't think you could leave gratuity with a gift card...).

So in a few years when we go again... ;)

Last year they ran this 2 weekends in a row. We can only hope!
I think we're all keeping our fingers crossed! Now that I know I can use the Disney Gift Cards to pay my DVC dues, I am ready to buy more :goodvibes.

You can use the gift cards to pay for your room or package in advance so you don't have to bring them with you. Just make sure to keep the cards in a safe place in case you have to cancel your trip.

That is what I did. I used my gc's to pay off my resort room, by phone. The operator was very patient while I read off all those card numbers.

Does anyone know if this is being offered again? I had a bit of miscommunication last week so we didn't get our GCs bought.

As I understand it, I can now take my $200 worth of Target gift cards and buy a $200 prepaid Visa card. I may do that or my DD really wants an iPad and we couldn't afford with our upcoming trip and all, but now with my $200 windfall she might get one :bride:.

Robin, did you see that target has a free $50 gift card with purchase of any ipad(except mini)? It started yesterday. Plus you can save 5% with a redcard.

Thanks :thumbsup2. Unfortunately, my DD wants the mini and it's sold out at Target and just about everywhere else *sigh*. I think I am going to hope for a second week of coupons and 'churn' the Target gift cards into more Disney gift cards.

I was considering doing that, but I'm paranoid about having "proof" that I paid, since I'm dealing with a large amount of money ($1,800 balance on our room only ressie at the GC). I'd love to NOT have to bring all those cards with me on the trip...

We paid by phone, and then printed the receipt through the disney site and brought the receipt with us.

Have you tried your local Radio Shack? We bought our Mini at Radio Shack last week and received 8 $10 off $10 gift certificates. (It was one $10 cert for each $50 spent - we bought the 32gb mini for $429).

After getting the gift certificates (they email them) we went back to Radio Shack and got $80 worth of stuff - batteries, SD cards, flash drives, travel alarm, etc. You have to do each as a separate transaction, but the best part was that after they subtract the gift certificate, it also subtracted the sales tax, so that each $9.99 item was free (they even gave us a penny back on each!)
